To Each His Own in one of the best films that I think Olivia de Havilland ever did. She was a great actress, and did so many good roles. But this story is such a great story of the single mother and losing the son, yet hoping for the day of a true reunion and receiving her son's love in return.
They need to re-release this movie on DVD!That's all there is to it!

If I had to refer one oldie on black and white film it would be this one. This is a beautiful story told through a film that boasts great acting, fabulous costuming, and, especially, really well-done directing. It can seem a bit like a soap opera at points, but the general setting and direction make up for it, for it is as entertaining as it is touching, and carried away an Academy Award, one for Olivia deHavilland as Best Actress, and was nominated for Charles Brackett for Best Writer, Original Story.

After winning a long court battle with Warner Bros. that kept her off the screen for three years, OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND became a free-lancer and got her big chance when Paramount offered her TO EACH HIS OWN. Everyone shines in this movie, from the leads (OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND and JOHN LUND) to the smallest bit players. The script had been turned down by Ingrid Bergman and Ginger Rogers.
De Havilland was perfect as Jody Norris, realistically portraying a young girl of seventeen and then various ... Read More
