Amazon.com: The dark, brooding tone of Conan the Barbarian is replaced in this rousing sequel by a lighter, more humorous tone and one of the campiest casts ever assembled. This time, Conan is assigned by a duplicitous queen (Sarah Douglas) to escort a virgin princess (Olivia d'Abo) on a treacherous trek to a crystal palace where they will retrieve a priceless gemstone. Basketball champ and self-described Lothario Wilt Chamberlain plays Bombaata, a warrior sent on a secret mission to kill Conan, and the androgynous Grace Jones plays Zula, a wild woman who becomes Conan's loyal ally. Some consider this sequel a disappointment, but the film makes no apologies for its silliness, and that's the key to its success as gloriously pulpy entertainment. --Jeff Shannon
Product Description: The fabulous Arnold Schwarzenegger actor author seven times Mr. Olympia and five times Mr. Universe is back for the further adventures of Conan the warrior king. And this time he is joined by a large cast that includes Grace Jones and Wilt Chamberlain. In this second Conan epic he is asked by the evil Queen Taramis to accompany a beautiful young princess to find a magic treasure. If he returns with the treasure and the virgin the Queen promises to bring Conans beloved Valeria back from the dead. But little does he know that she plans to kill them both or that the return of the treasure will mean the extinction of mankind. In the words of People Magazine "...the action is large scale the plot suitably fantastic and the climax a fight to the death between Conan and a god brought back to life (the monster was designed by E.T. creator Carlo Rambaldi) is slam bang."System Requirements:Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger Grace Jones Wilt Chamberlain Tracey Walter Olivia D abo Sarah Douglas Director: Richard Fleischer Copyright: 1984 Universal Produced by Raffaella De Laurentiis; written by Stanley Mann; running time of 101 minutes; Closed Captioned. Conan The Barbarian stands as one of the best epic movies of all time. Conan The Destroyer is what Batman and Robin is to the Batman series. The whole dark atmosphere and seriousness of the first movie is traded for a children-friendly approach that ruined the whole appeal of Conan.
The Plot: The wicked Queen Taramis(played by Sarah Douglas) dupes Conan to escort her princess niece (played by Olivia D'Aba) on a quest for some sacred horn in exchange to bring back Conan's lost love, ... Read More

Conan the Destroyer has aged quite well. At times many of us just want to see Arnie mash things up and here he does just that... getting to say a few more lines than usual and even manages to pull off a hilarious drunk sequence. However, seeing a monster swinging Arnie around and around by his ankles is really why we want to watch it.
While Conan the Barbarian tried to be a serious take on the Conan character, producing a brutal feel, its adult themes and nature meant that younger fans ... Read More

Pretty much everything that was good about the first movie was ignored. This movie killed the franchise.

Conan The Destroyer DVD
Based on a Robert E. Howard book, the movie is a reasonably well done representation. I think Howard would have enjoyed it.
This was a fun fantasy-action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a powerful warrior. Arnold is so dang big with all that muscle showing, sword-fighting ....And yes, the movie is visually interesting, too, even though, the special effects are obsolete and a little goofy...but that's ok...its an old movie now... A movie ... Read More

Conan the Destroyer is a painless but brainless and bland sequel to Milius' not-that-good-in-the-first-place pagan epic. The violence has gone, along with the ambition and pretension, leaving something that might as well have been shot in Italy in the early 60s with Victor Mature. Tracey Walter's comic relief is especially painful and it's a shame that Basil Poledouris, whose score was the real star of the first film, has to struggle with an audibly smaller orchestra this time, but there's some genuine ...
