Product Description: Unlike the Green Lanterns who preceded him on Earth and throughout the galaxy, Kyle Rayner was given no training or guidance in the use of his power ring. In this new collection, Kyle decides to seek the guidance of the greatest heroes aliveThe Flash, Batman, and Wonder Womanonly to find that he is already worthy of the name hero.

Green Lantern: Baptism of Fire by Ron Marz is the story of the start of Kyle Rayner's adventures as Green Lantern, and the mistakes he makes.
Quite lacking in confidence at the beginning, as he is just an artist kid suddenly given a super weapon, it takes some working with other heroes and encouragement for him to start to get the hang of it.

Okay... Look at these reviews, then look at the synopsis of this book. Obviously a few of these folks got a bit confused when they were typing up they're reviews. Yes, Baptism of Fire is ALSO a GL collected book, but this isn't that one. This is a book of displacement and terror, science fiction and fantasy, all rolled into one. Tony Bedard returns to comics in this all new monthly. The artwork is stunning and the story is solid as well. Several hundred beings from the Crossgen Universe are abducted by the Negation Empire. The dialogue is wonderful and the part where the Kremmin appear is hysterical. If ... Read More

This is the second CrossGen title that I have read the first being Sojourn, which I unequivocally recommend. It's a total surprise how good these titles are, because I have resisted reading them. I've read DC and Marvel exclusively. I decided to purchase Negation Book 2 and was blown away by the artwork, the characterization and pacing. Each chapter if filled with tension and you quickly catch on that there is more to this band of former prisoners than meets the eye. I was impressed to say the ... Read More

Because I already read probably about two-thirds of the CrossGen line, I was planning to skip "The Negation" when it came out. (Not because the CrossGen books weren't good, but just the opposite! I couldn't afford any more!) The clerk at my comic shop dropped the Prequel issue into my reserved folder by mistake, and I decided to pick it up anyway -- and got immediately hooked.
Although each CrossGen comic series stands on its own, they do take place in a shared universe with clues as to ... Read More
