I've seen these guys play live a number of times and they're just a ton of fun and have one of the strongest rhythm sections. When Max V. left I think they kept the fires burning pretty well though I do believe their song writing changed a bit and I'm not convinced it's for the better. REAL fans will tell you that the 'pods are not a true studio giant, nor were the Grateful Dead. The ominous seapods "superman curse" however, is a great album in my mind. Good to be alive (for a change), superman curse, bong hits and porn and imaginary money make it worth while. Plenty of other good songs to make me proud that I bought it when it came out and supported a local band. I grew up in Plattsburgh, NY where they formed, and now live in Las Vegas. I really enjoyed their previous album (Matinee Idols), but this one is a collection of very boring poppy songs that never go any where and feature very uninspired jams. I am tremendiously disappointed.

Recently, I purchased my first Pod music. If you are a fan of quality musicianship, inventive improvisation, and good songwriting, you should look somewhere else. The Pod purchase was a mistake. Its better than commercial radio, but I hate to damn with faint praise. The playing is nothing special, the songs are not catchy, and there is no apparent interplay between the musicians.
