One of the best acts from New Zealand. This album is absolutely brilliant. Also check out their new album "This Little Empire". Their new album is fantastic especially the remake of the song "Don't Worry Baby" - I think their version is better than the original.

Ask anyone from New Zealand about Zed and they may deny their existence. To put it simply, Zed is a band that many Kiwis do not like to admit comes from our fair green shores. Because of their reliance on dark brooding imagery, they are followed by rumors of Misoginy, Onanism, drug use, satanism and neo nazism. All of which make New Zealand music listeners cautious to admit to being a Zed fan.

Until very recently, there was a huge cringe factor associated with New Zealand music. It received little airplay, and we considered that if music wasn't huge overseas then it didn't deserve to be huge here.

I have both editions of Silencer, and play them constantly. Zed have been my favourite band for almost four years now. They're huge here in NZ, and about to get even bigger with a new album out on October 24th (2003). You have to listen to Silencer, it's the best album I've ever heard.
