Product Description: Adventures of Superman The: The Complete First Season The legendary Man of Steel assumes the secret identity of Clark Kent mild-mannered reporter for the Metropolis Daily Planet. And with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men he battles for truth and justice as Superman. The first ever Superman TV series! Originally aired in the 1950's it features George Reeves as Superman and enjoyed tremendous success during its broadcast. The TV series premise was established a year before its broadcast via the theatrical release of "Superman and The Mole Men" in 1951.Adventures of Superman The: The Complete Second SeasonContaining one of the most instantly recognizable intro sequences to a TV show ("Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!") THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN was the first attempt to bring the comic book character to television screens. Great cinematic characters such as Lois Lane Jimmy Olsen and of course Clark Kent himself were established on the show with Kent attempting to live an anonymous existence as a reporter for the Daily Planet by day but transforming into Superman the last survivor from the planet Krypton when trouble comes calling. George Reeves plays the Man of Steel in this complete collection of episodes from the second season of the show. For the most part, the first two seasons are great. I had two main
problems with this collection:
1. I am a purist. I like to see the reruns EXACTLY like the original.
While that was true of most of this, there were a few episodes where
the rerun differed from the original.
2. There were at least two episodes where at least one scene in each
episode was deleted. Their way around this is that they "show the
original edit." Each deleted scene was ... Read More

This series is a time capsule it shows how TV was then, and gives you a nostalgic look at technical and creative programming. I saw this series when it came out in the 1950's as a child, and now as an adult. I was taken back to a different time in our country. The good and bad points of this series are irrelevant, look at it as people did then. I believe it can be vary entertaining, and enjoyable

The series is "dark" and violent, with excellent acting from the supporting cast. Each episode was a movie in own right. Phyllis Coates is suburb, very much the independent modern 1950's woman a far better actress than the sub-servient Noell Neill. Phyllis exudes sex appeal. Jack Larson displayed better acting in this series that the latter, very much the innocent clean cut teenager. George Reeves acting improved in the 3rd season. Excellent historic 1950's American genre. The theme of "Fighting for ... Read More

The orignal Superman Series (1 and 2) are great! They brought back a lot of good memories of growing up, sitting around with the family watching week to week. Sure by today's standards the scene's and special effects are hokie but for that time it was great. I still enjoy watching episode to episode like it was yesterday. The picture/sound quality are excellent. Although I have to say, the Lois Lane starting in Season 2 was much better than in Season one but still good. Most importantly back then, ... Read More
