Others have reviewed these 2 excellent films, this is focused on the DVD product here. No remastering, horrible PLII sound (no 5.1) and the complete slap in the face of a 4x3 cropped "fullscreen" version of Phamtasm. Not to mention the amazon listing shows both 4x3 and "widescreen" this is flat out false information. The menu for Mask shows in widescreen, as soon as you play the movie, it shifts to 4x3 and even has the dreaded "Has been formatted to fit your TV" insult. Umm my tv is 720p 16x9. ... Read More

In 1992, Batman - The Animated Series hit the airwaves. Riding in on the success of the two Tim Burton-directed feature films, the series won over a large audience, with its fantastic artwork and storytelling style that stayed true to the character's roots - many will argue that these cartoons were superior to the Joel Schumacher-directed feature films! And with the success, Warner Bros. released a theatrical animated movie, as well as a direct-to-video sequel a few years later. ***

When I was growing up back in 1992 I was a big fan of Batman: The Animated Series and I still am. So needless to say when I saw Batman: Mask of the Phantasm in theaters I loved it and I thought it was better than Tim Burton's rendition of Batman.
When I saw Subzero for the first time I thought it paled in comparison to Mask of the Phantasm but I thought it was still enjoyable because it was kind of a companion piece to Batman & Robin...and Subzero was actually better than Batman & ... Read More

While initially thought to be a two-disc release of the previous releases for the films, Warner Home Video has pressed a whole new flipper disc for this DVD release, putting SubZero on one side and Mask of the Phantasm on the other (featuring the films fullscreen transfer). Also confusing is the DVDs packaging that puts SubZero before Mask of the Phantasm in nearly every respect.
The two sides of the discs are complete duplicates of the original releases and contain nothing new. Exact same ... Read More

Excellent idea, putting the two movies into one handy package. Mask of the Phantasm, to this day is still one of the best Batman movies. It certainly beats out any of the movies from the 90's. My only gripe about this set... it should've been a triple feature with Mystery of the Batwoman included. So that's twice WB screwed up, not including it the box set a few years back (and instead including the CUT version of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker), and now. But overall, a worthy purchase, to those ... Read More
