Ever wanted to read a book with suspense and comedy. Well then the book "Fantastic Mr.Fox" by Roald Dahl is just the book for you it is about a fox and his family who steal food from farmers until one day the farmers got fed up with it. They made a plan. They went hunting for Mr.Fox and his family. If you want to know if Mr.Fox and his family survive read the book.
My opinions for this book are that it is really interesting and easy to read. Also very fun for kids.

I *LOVED* this book as a kid and re-read it as an adult to preview it for my neice and nephew. I was a little surprised about the story I remembered and the story that *is*. It's honestly brutal about farm life (shooting the foxes) and fantastical all in the same breath - which is fun. The three human characteres are almost exact charactures of alcholism, gluttiny, etc. Mr. Fox definately isn't a role model in his stealing to survive...because it was his stealing that got him in the stitch he is now...but, the story is very very fun and moves fast. I still recommend it, but think that it also might be a great way for moms/dads to talk with their kids about right/wrong...especially after the part where Mr. Fox is confronted by one of the other animals about their stealing. Still a great story and I still recommend it! I love the idea of a little underground village where all the little animals live in relative peace with no fear or threat and outsmarting the mean farmers (which is what I remember about the book from my childhood)!

I definitely recommend that you get this book for your children, nieces, nephews, and any other kids who play an active role in your life. I loved this book when I was gorwing up! When my older brother turned [...], he decided that he was mature enough to read "real books" as he called them and so he gave me, his then [...] kid sister, his entier collection of Roald Dahl books and other great children stories. I stayed up all night and read as much as I could. Of course I probably spent more time looking at the pictures, as I was just learning English. Growing up in France, I really only gained a proficient english level around the age of 7 or 8. However, I know that it is thanks to Dahl that I am now writing this review, hopefully withough too many mistakes. Mr Fox is also the reason why I enjoy reading so much. At the age of 12 I had read most of Oscar WIlde's work,albeit without understanding the clever subtext. But back to Dahl's favourit Fox. Well the title really tells it all, he's a fantastic fox. And what kid does not enjoy a good story about a witty animal who manages to overcome idiotic traps set by the overwight farmers? None. So if you want your child to learn english while having fun, or simply learn to enjoy reading, then drop off "Mr Fox" by their bedroom door.

- Of course it's good! What do you expect from Dahl?
Dahl makes an ingenious twist by setting a predator as the hero. (After all, unless you're a vegetarian, you're no better than the Big Bad Wolf.)

There are a few weaknesses in the book, though:

What makes the farmers think that one place is any better place for a stakeout than any other place? Anyone who tries to catch a burrowing animal knows that anywhere in any direction is fair game.

Dahl tells us that the farmers are despicable because he wants us to see the fox as the hero. However, he might have done a better job of characterizing the farmers as despicable. Yes, they are fanatical in their effort to catch the fox, but that is not enough.

I still say "Matilda" is my favorite.

- Great Story for Kids
I read this book so frequently when I was a child that my copy literally fell apart. I've now purchased a copy to read to my own son and am sure that he will enjoy the story of the determined fox family that consistently outwits the greedy farmers just as much as I did. I always liked Roald Dahl's books because they were not the usual sunshine and teddy bear genre of most children's books. Instead, the focus is on overcoming adversity with a bit of humor and a lot of sass.
