I highly recommend this book to anyone. It is truly fascinating how one person could be suffering yet see the strength that he could and does share with others. Truly a blessing.

Still Me By: Christopher Reeve Still Me is an autobiography written by Christopher Reeve. It is the story of his life, before and after his accident that left him a quadriplegic. He talks about the way he has learned to cope with his handicap. As you probably know, Christopher Reeve was left paralyzed after a horseback riding accident about 3 years ago. After and during his long and intense recovery, he has fought for victims of paralysis, and also remained in Hollywood. This book was very inspiring, and taught me that as hard as I may have it, there will always be people with it much harder than me. Basically I found this book to be very well written as well as being very inspiring During the book, he goes into great detail about his accident and the support that he received from his family and friends. It was one long-time friend...Robin William's, who snapped him out of a deep depression soon after the accident, and gave him a new look on life. He explains how his wife never left his side, or stopped giving him all of the love and support that he needed in the months immediately following the incident. The book then heads into right around when the book was written. He talks about his return to showbiz as he directed a film for HBO. The film which was about a handicapped child, was directed by Christopher Reeves, was released about a year and a half ago. However, through all of the accomplishments he has still maintained one thing He always stresses that he is the same person. With or without the wheelchair, and ventilator, what is inside him has stayed the same. What makes up a person, is on the inside. They may be confined to a chair, unable to do anything for themselves, but as long as they stay kind, and caring...a person should be able to see past the chair. I give this book two toes up, because of all of the inspiring books that I have ever read, this was one of the most inspiring. This book showed me that no matter how bad I think that I may have it...there will always be others with it much worse than me. This book also showed me that there was more to Christopher Reeves then just the Superman movies. He had also worked some very prestigious plays, and attended very prestigious schools. This book showed me that "the man of steel" really is a Superman.

A portrait of a highly intelligent, talented & sensitive individual who shows us that we can endure & find meaning in life when we think there is nothing left to live for.

Christopher Reeve is an amazing man! A tragedy like this would've crushed most people, and it almost did him, but, he turned it into a positive. After reading his book, all my problems seemed so small and trivial. It's taught me to appreciate all I have, and to not take life for granted, and, no matter what cards are dealt me, life is worth living, and you can make a difference in the lives of people you don't even know. Chris, you're a God send. Love you!
