I've read alot of novels based on comics, movies ,and comic characters, but this takes the cake. the imagery that Stern uses in Section 1 during the battle between Doomsday & Supes is breath-taking. I felt like i had front row tickets to the biggest show on earth. i'll admit that after the death of Superman, the actions slows but is still obviously present.
hands down this is a must-have for any fan of Superman, or anyone who likes a gripping & emotional tale
PARTY ON, DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This an amzingly written book. Its the story of how superman dies to a creature named doomsday. There are not many written books on comics but once I saw this book, I had to read it. 5 out of 5 and Roger Stern should just finish the whole superman story. He wrote it amazing, read in 2 sittings and wish that I did it in one. Not emotional unless you are the #1 fan of it, but ya he dies. Not funny at all. Please write another Roger Stern!

I just finished reading this novel and I must say that it is excellent. The writing is exceptional for a novel based on a comic book series. Highly recommended!!

I think of myself as a serious reader. I am constantly reading, and I read books from all genres. I've read non-fiction, biographies, science ficition, historical fiction, fantasy, comedy, adventure, mystery and suspense. I've read books by Clancy, Koontz, Grisham, Brown, Pressfield, and King. With that said, I read this book almost 10 years ago, and it still stands atop list of favorite reads. I have read and reread this book several times.
This book was excellently written, and a great novelization of the comic series which tells the story of Superman's epic battle with the beast that is Doomsday. Stern also does a great job of establishing an emotional connection with the reader. The branching stories of the pretenders who claim to be the real Superman is engaging but drags along more than it could. Fortunately the book is full of action which keeps you from putting it down. It is longer than a person would expect a comic based novel to be, however because of the great flow and tempo of the story, the read goes fast, and ends sooner than you would hope.

As much as I love Superman. This book was a real disappointment in my opinion. The beginning of the story is real good but when he dies it's like the book got soo boring to read that I just wanted to skip through the pages just to read about he's resurrection and what will he do next. But when I got to he's resurrection I wanted to burn the book!! Because it was more of a disappointment. I was real hoping that Doomsday would come back alive to pick the story up but a little to late. This book could have been a great book if Doomsday was resurrected as when Superman was! It was just boring.
