- Wise Child and Juniper are wonderful reads for all!
Whether you are a young adult, an adult that thinks young or just a plain human being..
it would be good for you to sit down in a comfortable spot, feel the sun on your face and immerse yourself in this book and it's partner Wise child.
I read this book after finding it in the Young adult section (because I had run out of 'adult' fiction books to read)... I was so surprised to find how good the books are. You really get to know the characters and the historical data is woven in excellently.

"Juniper" is most definately the best book I have ever read. I normally do not like fantasy books, especially if they're way out there, but this book is great! Monica Furlong is so good at describing just about everything; I got a clear picture in my mind of what was going on the whole time. I really really suggest that you read this book, because I know you'll like it!

- A different type of knowledge!
This book is about a princess named Ninnoc. Her godmother, Euny says that her real name is Juniper. Juniper has a pet owl. One day, her father sends her to live with Euny for a year and a day to learn the knowledge that Euny thinks she has. Euny lives in poverty, and it's hard for Juniper. Euny and a friend teach her about herself, about healing, and the knowledge of being a dorran. A different type of knowledge. Juniper ends up saving her best friends life, while destroying an evil life.

- Juniper- not just a prequel
After reading both books several times, I think Juniper is actually better then Wise Child, the first book written about these characters. Juniper is a more intresting character with a better story line. She begins her story as a Cornish princess who begins to learn the ways of the dorans through her godmother,Euny. I especially liked the parts of the books with Angherhad and Trewyn, with Juniper making her doran's cloak and at last beginning to understand more about magic. Although this is the better book, I would still recommend you read Wise Child first, as it makes it more of a surprise when characters from there come up in Juniper. But this book stands on its own.

This was an awesome book. Monica Furlong's story telling ability is fantastic, and the details and slight poetic touch she adds accents the plot in a filling way. Plan to get Wise Child and set aside a two-hour block to read both of them because you will not be able to put them down!
