Ninnoc finds herself caught in a web of love, friendship and magic. Her life at the palace is interupted by her having to go to her god mother's house to learn to defeat her evil aunt using her own good magic against her aunt's bad. Mainly, this is a story of love, friendship and magic, all tied into a beautifully written prequil to Monica Furlong's Wise Child. I have enjoyed reading Wise Child and Juniper over and over agiain since fourth grade, this is truely a book for all ages so i'd say forget that young adult stamp there and buy this book! It is amazing!

Juniper is a perfect follow-up novel to Furlong's Wise Child. Readers of her first novel found themselves wondering about Juniper's childhood and how she came to choose the path she follows. The prequel accomplishes all that and more. It contrasts Juniper's initiation into the ways of the Doran with how she introduces Wise Child to them. The prequel also ties up some loose ends from the first novel, for example how do Finbar and Juniper know eachother when they come from to completely different places. In the novel Juniper you will find the answer to this question and many more!

This a book about a doran in training and how she must learn to be strong. This book is touching and for readers of all ages. It is better then its sequel: Wise Child.
