This collection is a follow up to 'Public Enemies' and reintroduces Superman's Cousin Kara Zor-El to the DCU. The storyline is even more intriguing then its predecessor and the art is equally as incredible (no body can draw Batman better then Michael Turner).
Lex Luthor may have been insane, but he wasn't wrong. Superman was what drew the kryptonite asteroid to earth. While inspecting pieces of sunken meteor rock in Gotham's Harbors Batman discovers a space ship with kryptonian writing. He is soon in pursuit of a naked teenage girl whom has powers remarkably similar to Supermans. After subduing her with green kryptonite Batman takes her back to the cave for analysis. It is there that they discover that she is indeed kryptonian and related to Superman himself.
Finally feeling like he isn't alone in the universe Clark bonds with his cousin immediately. He trusts her completely and even reveals his secret identity to her after only a few days. Bruce however isn't so trust worthy, he suspects that she is some elaborate trap and arranges for the girl to be taken away to Themyscira (Paradise Island) where she is trained by Wonder Woman. Just when Bats suspicion is subsiding Darkseid launches a full scale attack on the island and kidnaps Kara. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Barda now have to travel to Apokolips to bring her back. However, are they willing to destroy an entire planet to do so? And even more, will Kara even want to come back?
This collection is defiantly worth picking up. After reading this I snatched up Supergirl: Power, Kara Zor-El is quickly becoming one of my favorite DCU characters.
+This trade contains a guide to kryptonian so all you fanboys and girls can translate the language yourself.

First off, i think i shouls mention that i rarely write reviews, that said i will get to it now. I purchased this item used or new expecting a pleasant diversion on a rainy day.this is a very well written tale of with a few twists and turns in it that i was well impresssed by. as everyone "knows" Kara zor-el died at the end of crisis on infinite earths, this has proven to be a bad move on dc,s part as she was and is a very popular character.i was wel satisfied to see she is back although in a slghtly different form. Most of all i was stunned at how the staff at DC decided to show in just one or two pages why darkseid is a real "bad guy"! Big Blue is as usual his big blue boy scout self and the bat is as usual his almost grumpy grim self. there are good reasons for these states of affairs. this starts at pesumabbly public enemies left off. and Bats is a little cautious when it comes to kara just conveniently showwing up.this will likely be a good place for those who need a "jumping on" place for these two icons for the 21st century.as i have already stated darkseid is a real thug in this one and gets his too.i look forward to more from this team of writers.i gave it five stars because the images are crisp the writing is well paced but not too bogged down in details. it is truly a tale of Superiour people with truly "human" values.along the way we learn as i always knew that the Batman just appears gruff because he does care. it is his way of distanceing himself from what he has to do sometimes.he truly means it when he says he will do whatever it takes to protect the innocent and defend those that cannot defend themselves. All in all a good tale. ENJOY IT!!

I personally loved this story arc, never really knew much about supergirl so this was really good. Jeph Loeb is one of the greatest. I would recommend anything written by him. Not to mention you see a side of Superman you never really see, so i would read this if you liked vol. 1. The Art is better and a great story arc. Highly Recommended.

I signed on for the first Loeb story in the series and was even more in awe of this second installment. The average story was made better by the BRILLIANT artwork and powerful action scenes.
There was some confusion in the story - Batman being part of a Wonder Woman kidnap plot that he himself was seriously attacked in - and Supergirl being twisted into evil by Darkseid "off-camera."
Superman and Batman rarely look this good, however (except by Alex Ross, of course), and the two heroes work well together while their internal monologues make for great contrast.
All in all, a good read - and a good reintroduction to one of the potentially most powerful members of the DC Universe.

First of all, this is not one for the "graphic novel" snobs. This is just a great comic book collection featuring a story and artwork that make for some wonderful fun.
Jeph Loeb once again manages to put enough heart and emotion into these characters to elevate this above mere fluff. That depth, along with a fast-paced, roller-coaster ride of an adventure, makes for a thrilling read.
Supergirl appears, Supes and Bats disagree on how to handle this development, and Wonder Woman gets in on the action too. Along the way, we get to see some awesome scenes on Apokolips, and a very cool showdown between Superman and Darkseid.
Michael Turner's art is beautiful. I especially love the way he draws the most gorgeous Wonder Woman that I've ever seen. Everything else here looks outstanding as well..., but, man, his Wonder Woman is exceptional.
If you like comics that are just downright fun to read, this is for you.
