I finished reading GREEN LANTERN: THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD with annoyance, as it focused only on Hal Jordan, the Silver Age Green Lantern. Then I read the review by "The Original Guardian" and was surprised to learn that last minute story changes prevented the inclusion of stories featuring the Golden Age GL, Alan Scott. That's a shame, as I feel Scott's presence would have made for a much more enjoyable book. The other volumes in the TGSET series (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash) contain tales from all comic ages, even if it involves various bearers of the mantle. This volume is all Hal Jordan, and while Hal is my favorite of the Terran GLs, I really wish DC would have presented us with a broad historical perspective of GL, and not just focused on one version. Sure, it includes Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner in team-ups with Jordan, but that's not quite the same thing. I'm sure this was primarily due to space limitations, but it makes me long for DC's original "Greatest Stories Ever Told" series from the '80s, which included ~150 more pages, as well as a more diverse selection of stories.

If you are expecting this book to include either All-American Comics #89 (September 1947) "The Harlequin" or Superman #257 (October 1972) "The Greatest Green Lantern of All!", then you will be disappointed. DC pulled these stories at the last minute and substituted Green Lantern #74 (January 1970) "Lost In Space". That doesn't detract from my review rating; I'm surprised word of this change didn't hit the grapevine sooner.
