This is the best collection of the early 1940s Superman cartoons I have seen to date. To clarify THIS COLLECTION DOES NOT HAVE THE ENHANCED DIGITAL SOUND!! That was a horrible idea, adding such modern sound effects to these classics. (and a crappy job at that) This DVD has all the original cartoons (17 total) with the original mono soundtrack. The menu design is pretty cool as well. The only small drawback is that they placed the release date of each cartoon in the first 10 seconds of each episode. This may be nice for some but it is kind of annoying. Overall though I am happy with this collection and its presentation of these timeless classic cartoons.

I USED TO WATCH THESE CARTOONS, ON THE OLD CAPT VIDEO SHOW ON CHANNEL 5 (IN NEW YORK)......BACK IN THE DAYS OF BLACK AND WHITE TV.......I USED TO STAY GLUED TO THE TUBE WHEN I KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO BE ON........THIS DVD COLLECTION BRINGS BACK ALL THOSE MEMORIES........PLUS THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN RESTORED TO THEIR ORIGINAL BRILIANCE AND IN BEAUTIFUL COLOR AND THEY ARE COMPLETE AND SHOWN IN THE ORDER THAT THEY WERE PRODUCED AND RELEASED........THIS SHURELY IS A TREAT FOR ANY BABYBOOMER
OR ANYONE THAT APPRECIATES QUALITY.........BUY THIS DVD.YOU WILL THANK ME, FOR THE ADVICE........

IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN A SUPERMAN FAN OR IF YOU'RE A SUPERMAN FREAK STILL YOU SHOULD GET THIS COLLECTION, IT HAS ALL THE EPISODES WITH A VERY CRISP REMASTERIZATION, YOU CAN NOTICE THE DIFERRENCE IN STYLE OF THE FIRST 9 AND THE OTHER 8 DONE BY THE SECOND STUDIO,BUT YOU STILL FEEL CHILLS WITH THE VISUALS PRODUCED FOR THAT ERA. YOU CAN WATCH IT AND WILL NEVER TIRE OF IT.

If you are a fan of Superman and haven't seen these remarkable cartoons, you should - without delay - put down the small amount of money that this disc costs and buy it.

I can assure you that you will be amazed and entertained. This Max Fleischer cartoon series is the best representation of Superman to date, in my opinion.

While the cartoons are dated (produced during W.W.II) it makes it all the better in this writer's opinion.

Buy the DVD - you will NOT be disappointed!!

I have the 1st of the DVDs,but not the 2nd one.I would love to have the 2nd one.Maybe I can order it from Borders or something,when I get Kim Possible Pick A Villian #3 book in October.
