What I thought was a great soundtrack was kind of boring after you listen to the Star Wars trilogy. There are less action cues in this. I'd buy it if you want to hear the Main Title really badly (that is pretty much why I got it). The Main Title, End Title, and Love Theme From Superman are all the highlights of this. The other ones were good also. If you want one good soundtrack buy The Star Wars Trilogy Box Set or if you already heard it and want to try something new by Williams buy this. In conclusion, buy before Star Wars.

This is another spectacular John Williams score that speaks for itself. It is triumphant, bold, heroic, and adventurous all in one. The main theme from Superman is one of the most popular themes out there and one of the best. It is rousing, heroic, and exciting, full of triumphant brass fanfares. The rest of the soundtrack is just as good, but it really takes off when the main theme is played. Another theme that occurs just as often is the love theme for Superman and Lois Lane, which is a romantic and graceful theme that is worthy of mentioning. "The Planet Krypton" is mysterious and ominous with electronic sounds underneath the orchestra. "The Fortress of Solitude" is a dark track with the chorus featured. "The March of the Villains" is a neat and kind of comedic march for Lex Luthor. "Can You Read My Mind" contains some of Margot Kidder's dialogue from the film, which I would rather have it left out, as the love theme is played and showcased in the track. Portions of the score are very similar to Star Wars in terms of orchestration and sound. The always flawless London Symphony Orchestra performed the music and the result is simply outstanding. A truly classic score that never lets up until the end.
