This cd rocks! Since I am the greatest Superman fan, of course I would like this cd. But not only Superman fans should like it! Everyone who loves superhero music or collects these types of cd's should add this to their collection.

I read the review two before my review here, and the person put down this recording, basically saying that the collection had no sound quality but let me tell you honestly, this recording is VERY good, so good, it's great. I was suprised about how close these recordings came to the actual original soundtracks. It's very worth the purchase. The symphonies that participated in these recordings have done a superb job of keeping to the work of John Williams. This is a must for every Superman fan, of the movie and music.

I brought this CD like a couple of weeks ago and I was excited by the way they put some of theme's from Superman II and III on there. I was looking for the soundtracks of Superman II and III on CD but they don't have them on sell anywhere. The music from the first Superman sounds a little different from the soundtrack I have but it's still good. They should of put some theme's from Superman IV like Lacey's theme. I liked the Supergirl "main title" that was good too. What I am concerned about is that how come they don't have the New Adventures of Superman theme on there? That's one of my favorite theme's that wasn't on the CD.

If only I had carefully read a previous negative review! The concept of this CD is a promising one, but unfortunately it's of such poor quality that if I were to hear it in a elevator, I would push the "open" button and get off...in between floors! Bland, unfaithful, lacking dynamics. I hope someone takes this concept, clears the rights to the originals, and goes for it---the right way!

This is an inspired collection, and the orchestra that performed these new recordings did an excellent job. That being said, the John Williams main theme sounded slightly tinny and doesn't stand up to the original Warner Bros. soundtrack. The other recordings, however, are excellent. Whoever selected this material really knows his (or her) Superman history. The medley from the Broadway musical is excellent. There is, in my opinion, a bit too much John Williams, which is available on other CDs. I suggest they do a second volume with MORE MATERIAL! This would include "Lacie's Theme" from "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" (one of the few good things in that film), the theme to Viacom's "Adventures of Superboy" TV series, the themes to the various animated TV series (Filmation, Ruby-Spears, and the current Warner Bros. series), and "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" (yes, there's a CD out with that music, but it omits some material, especially the music from the romantic scenes in the episodes just prior to their getting married). And some of the great background music from the first and second series of "The Adventures of Superman" TV show would also be a nice addition. In the meantime, "Superman: The Ultimate Collection" is a winner.
