- First half good, second half disappointing
I absolutely LOVED Third Eye Blind's first CD. I would put it in my CD player and leave it on repeat for hours, enjoying every minute, every second of it. Thus, I had high expectations for their sophomore album. Well, all I can say is that I've had this CD for two or three years now, and I still can't bear to go beyond track 7 when I listen to it. Even then, I often don't even make it that far--only the first 5 tracks are really worthwhile. Everything after that sounds like they just threw it together in the studio in about an hour and said "Good enough." I recommend this only to those who are willing to pay full price for half a CD. Everyone else, buy their first one if you haven't already.

This disc is truly full of hits. It combines the modern day rock and excellent guitar work to make a disc you cannot resist. The upbeat tempo makes you feel like you can party all night. This music is not crazy like other heavy metal bands, but is decent with language and tone. There is no parental guidance necessary for the mellow beat unlike most songs common today. The hit song "Never Let You Go" will make you feel young again and separate you from the awful language and stereotypical bands today. This CD is for all rock lovers trying to get away from the heavy metal and loud screaming music commonly heard. This CD is a must have for anybody to truly understand music's potential.

This album is amazing it is just as good as their debut because of it's distinct sound.

Wounded - 5/5 The shoulda-been-but-wasn't single. This is an amazing song with a flavor that only third eye blind can cook up. great lyrics.

10 days late - 5/5 this song was a single that really never got any radio play and i don't even think that people remember the video for this song. NEway Great song, almost as poppy as "Never let you" go but just better

Never Let you Go 4/5 - The only reason I'm giving this a 4 is because of the overplay it got on the radio but still a great song. Hey It's Catchy what can i say.

Deep inside of you 4/5 great song - but might get a little boring after a while.

1000 julys - 3/5 the only song on this album that i'm not completely crazy about.

An ode to maybe 5/5 - This Is Where The album starts changing it's mood from radio friendly songs to strange and eerie. I gave this a 5 because of the lyrics. their so crazy and wierd that you have to love them.

The red summer sun 5/5 - As i said the songs get wierder. great guitar riff.

Camouflage 5/5 Here it is, one of the craziest songs I have ever heard. this song is an example of why 3eb are distinct from every other band out there.

Farther 4/5 now the album starts getting a little smoother. A great song that is much better than 1000 julys.

Slow Motion (instrumental) 5/5 The most controversial song that 3eb have. This song has lyrics but their record label did not want them to put them in. GREAT IDEA ELEKTRA!(DUH)

Darkness 5/5 Great song with amazing lyrics.

Darwin 4/5 this is one of those songs that grows on you. Its very strange when you first hear it. Because of the lyrics and the music arrangement. Look for the hidden track!

Go out and buy this album NOW don't be fooled by the poppy "Never let you go" because the album is nothin but POP.

- Initially Mediocre, but Grows Quite Well with Time
Yeah, it's true that Third Eye Blind's self-titled album was filled with extremely catchy tunes. It was track after track of songs that could have easily been released as singles, well, a good number of them anyway. And now, we have Blue. Quite a departure from the sure-fire success of the self-titled. Stephan Jenkins and company won the hearts of casual listeners across the country with "Never Let You Go", and "Deep Inside of You". However, true 3EB fans will uncover that the remainder of the tracks on this album immensely compensate for the shallow, but undeniably catchy "Never Let You Go". We really get to hear some soul searching, and seemingly, "from the heart" lyrics. There are many songs on the album which you'll skip over, initially. You'll most likely repeat the mainstream singles over and over again. But believe me, you will gradually come to realize that the true depth resides in the other tracks, the ones that didn't get any radio time. These tracks don't have to be catchy either. The lyrics, the abstarct nature, and the experimentation in these songs make up for quite an album for a fan of the band.

- Soothing Yet Catchy At the Same Time
I was given 3EB's self-titled debut for christmas '97 cuz i liked "Semi Charmed Life" (like anyone else did). But when I heard Blue I my horizons exapanded so wide i could also listen to any type of music. My favorite track on this cd is "Slow Motion", its such an amazing song, great atmosphere to it. It's an awesome cd, right up there w/ my Collective Soul cds. Great.
