I grew up watching the Superman movies and the music is just as nastalgic for me as the movies are. John Williams puts alot into his soundtrack recordings and Superman is no exception. Is it any wonder why this soundtrack was used for the three following sequels? The music is powerful, soft yet at times, sad but thoughtful. The original soundtrack (which only had 16 songs) was good but over the years, I always believed the sound could have been better and I knew there were more songs on the movie than what the soundtrack had disclosed for listening pleasure but hey! It has finally come! a new Superman soundtrack, remastered with extra songs included. This was like Christmas to me. The sound is superb and not only are there songs added, but excerpts that were taken out of songs on the original soundtrack, are finally disclosed in this package. This CD is very worth the purchase. It's a learning experience of John Williams music all over again! You'll enjoy it!

- As Big as The Universe!
I don't know why it is, but Rhino packages and reissues soundtracks better than anyone else. Being the owner of the Rhino soundtracks to "Ben-Hur," "Night of Dark Shadows," "Poltergeist," and "North by Northwest," respectively, I could not wait to purchase the full score to John Williams' superb "Superman - the Movie." I am not disappointed. All the wonderfully exciting and poignant melodies are here, including the vocals of "Lois" herself, Margot Kidder. With the addition of cuts not featured in the original release - which I also own - this disc is a true film buff's delight. The release is a feast for the ears as well as the eyes. A plethora of "tidbits" and photos adorn the accompanying booklet which adds to one's appreciation of the labor devoted to this mammoth undertaking. The London Symphony has never sounded better! Twenty years ago I could not decide which was the better of the two, Williams' score to this film or "Star Wars." Now that a full rendition is available to "Superman," my mind is made up. "Superman" SOARS higher!

Truly wonderful. The original soundtrack was great, but since this has so much more music on it it is truly wonderful. Sort of going from cheap wine to expensive, full wine! The book that comes with it explains many more details about the movie and soundtrack.

2 CDs. 35 tracks. Almost 150 minutes of music. A magnificent booklet. The original performances.

I love this music (maybe it's a personal opinion, but I do), and I always wanted to have it on CD, but the older version (in one CD) was incomplete.

This is the perfect solution. Four versions of the main theme, and some tracks never released before, like "The Big Rescue". Even a pop version of "Can You Read My Mind".

The moment I put this CD in my player, it was an automatic return to my childhood, to remember the first time I saw the movie in a theather (like twenty years ago). Maybe it's intended only for my generation, but the Superman mythos were perfectly incarnated by Christopher Reeve. And this strong music is the perfect company. You can relax and listen to it, and envision a man flying, faster than a speeding bullet.

At long last this is the ultimate release of one of John Williams' most popular scores. On 2 CDs, Williams' music is featured with many before unreleased tracks such as the famous helicopter rescue cue ("The Big Rescue") and the real opening ("Prelude and Main Title"). Splendidly put together in the film's running order plus a great and very informative booklet, this is a must for all film music fans. Forget your old Superman original score, this one's the real one!
