This CD contains the authentic movie soundtrack - and then some. From the tense opening through the triumphant theme song, to Krypton, baby Kal-El's flight to Earth, his awakening in Kansas and to his magnificent first appearance - one of moviedom's classic scenes - the rescue of Lois Lane while catching a doomed helicopter - this CD conveys every sense of the movie.

Inspirational, to say the least. Then again, what else would you expect from John Williams...

It's Superific!
John Williams wrote one of his best scores in this masterpiece. While I can't comment on the new tracks included here. I know this soundtrack has to be worth the price since it includes 15 more tracks. That's double the music. Plus it includes alternate tracks. WOW!!! The music is got to be worth every penny. I love the music to Superman. Especially the Main March. John Williams did a great job on it. And of course, March of the Villians. One of the best soundtracks of all time.

Simply one of the best music scores ever composed for a movie, John Williams' music for Superman: The Movie is simply a brilliant masterpiece. One of the most recognized themes, Superman really packs in power and tone.

Get this soundtrack as it features several unreleased material and is digitally restored. Rhino earns my thanks for releasing the complete score of John Williams' Superman music.

- Super soundtrack by the master of super movie sountracks
Very few composers have the gift of transporting a listener to the movies. John Williams is the undisputed master of this. From the Star Wars trilogy to the Indiana Jones trilogy to Superman the Movie, Williams puts you right in front of the theatre screen. From the opening strains of the main theme, you can see the titles fly by when finally he diamond surrounded 'S' appears on the screen. I love the March of the Villains; it brlliantly epitomizes Luhtor and his cronies. Some fun and interesting bits have been added to this release including a disco version of Can You Read My Mind. I love every thing abot this super sountrack. It seems a shame that Williams left the series after the first movie.

- You May Want To Check Out The Isolated Score On The DVD
Yes, this is a tremendous 2 CD set and worthy of any collection. But something else you should consider is that the newly released Superman: The Movie DVD includes a much sought after isolated score of the entire film. This means you can watch the movie with only the music playing and nothing else. I have listened to it many times on my sound system and it is fantastic! I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe that there is even music on the DVD that didn't make the CD release and this is because of the added footage that was placed back in the film. Among those is a wonderful scene of Superman, back at the fortress of solitude, discussing how good it felt to help mankind to his father, Jor-El. When Jor-El tells his son how proud he is of him and that he wishes he could hug him, John Williams does this great peace that really effects me everytime I hear it as Superman holds out his arms to his father's image which then disappears. I don't believe that this is on the 2CD set, but if it is I must've missed it. Either way, if you love the music of Superman and love the movie as well, buying the DVD will solve both of your problems. That being said, owning this 2 CD set isn't a bad way to go as well. But considering that the DVD is much cheaper to buy than the 2 CD set, you may want to rethink your decision. And those without DVD players might consider getting one, especially when you're missing out on such special features as this one. Sometimes isolated scores are the only way to get your hands on the music. Trevor Jones composed the music for Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal and the soundtrack on CD is nowhere to be found. But thanks to the DVD, an isolated score was included. DVD is definately the wave of the future. Let's hope one day that DVD sound players are introduced to replace CD players. After all, you can store over 140 minutes of information on one side of a DVD, and twice that if it is Dual-Layared. But until that future catches up with us, just enjoy John William's score for Superman on any format you can find!
