Let me say that Jennifer Knapp is my favorite artist at the time.
I'll split this review into 2 sections. Music, and Lyrics.
Lyrics -
In this genre of music, there's no comparison to Jennifer Knapp. Deep lyrics, simple truths, and 'poetic enough to be beautiful, but not so that you can't understand it' all describe her lyrics. They are truly of God. God is in every one of them. (As opposed to some other artists who will remain nameless, who sing about 'Sadie's Hawkens Dance' in his 'Khakki Pants')
Even if you are not into this type of music, if you are a christian, you will probly enjoy this CD just because of the lyrics.
A little more had one line that really made me a real fan. "Unearth this holiness that I CAN"T EARN!" We can't earn his holiness, we accept it. A simple truth, that hardly anybody gets.
Lay it down was about asking for forgiveness, Usher me down was just plain beautiful. Unfortunently I don't know where he's 'Ushering' her down to, but still, I like the song. LOL
This CD has a theme of God's grace, another simple truth that needs to be pounded into our heads. :~)
Jennifer Knapp wrote all the songs but one, which made me like her all the more.
Music -
Jennifer's music was great. It was rocky, and a little 'countryish'. I love the mix, and I love the variety. She has songs to Rock to, and songs to relax to. She writes beautiful songs, whether rocky or peaceful!
The strings and orchastra she used were 'real' violins and such. Not some lame synthasizer (Unless it was a synthasizer, in which case it's the most convising one ever!)
My only real complaint was that the album was to short. 10 tracks filling up 36 minutes. But that's a problem most 'rocky' singers have. Oh well. :~)

I just have such a great feeling when I listen to this CD. I'm so grateful to have such good music to listen to with a great message and such a great musician.

Jennifer Knapp's sophomore release takes a slightly different approach than Kansas. While on the first album Knapp would be more likely to rock out on her guitar, she keeps Lay It Down fairly mellow. Surprisingly enough, it works. She still does rock out on "A Little More" and "Into You", but Jennifer Knapp shows a softer side to her music while keeping her thoughtful, introspective lyrics regarding her faith and belief in Christ. The music and lyrics reflect the real life of Christian living and show that while everything is not perfect and wonderful in our lives, we still do have hope. While the song "When Nothing Satisfies" is probably my favorite on the album, it is the closing song "Peace" that is truly full of honest worship.

This is such a great CD. Jennifer has such an amazing voice and the lyrics to the song are as of amazing. I was disapointed with Jennifer's new cd" the Way I am" but I defnitely advise anyone to purchase this Cd. Some of my favorite songs on here are " Into You" " Usher me Down" and " A little More" Make sure you hear Jennifer's duet with Max Powell, lead singer of third day and their song " Aleluia" on the City of the Hill Cd
