Jennifer Knapp came with a really big recommendation in my book, she's been touring with one of the better rock acts out there (Third Day.) That was enough to get me to give a listen. With this CD she just blew me away. She has a sound and a lyrical content that I can really identify with. When she sings "Relieve me from myself/Bring me into you" she spoke to me in a way that I think many Christians can identify with. Whether it's rockin' out or mellow acoustic stuff she does it all well. Add to that a strong Christian message and her music just can't be beat. Thank you Jennifer!

Jennifer Knapp is a truly talented artist with convincing lirics that one can easily relate to. This recording and Kansas are albums that you will never grow weary of hearing.

Having literally worn out Jennifer Knapp's "KANSAS" CD, I was in great anticipation of "Lay It Down." This new offering is definitely a mature, thoughtful and complete package. A Little More is quite a graceful encounter when compared back to some of the bareboned jewels from "KANSAS." If you get a chance DO find the more edgy version on the WOW compilation--it does rock! Lay It Down, Peace, Diamond in the Rough are my immediate other favorites. As I devote more time to this CD I know it will flower too. If you've heard even any of "KANSAS", "Lay It Down" is also a must. Truly, thank God for the wonderful gift He has provided through this music!

"Lay it Down" isn't one of those CDs where you pop it in and the first time you hear it, you love it. In fact, if you've already become a Jennifer Knapp fan because of "Kansas," you might be really disappointed by this CD...at first. Jennifer excels at folk/rock type music, and on this CD there are several tracks that step out of that genre...and it takes some getting used to. The lyrics are also less straightforward than they were on "Kansas." The best way of describing the difference is that "Kansas" was a photograph, and "Lay it Down" is an impressionistic painting. "Kansas" is more tangible and easily perceived, but there is also a richness in the ambiguity of "Lay it Down." So if you like Jennifer, you'll like "Lay it Down," but just don't expect another trip to "Kansas."

I came upon this CD rather by accident. I was parusing the shelves of a used CD store looking for a particular obsure disc. As I searched, in the background was this wonderful peaceful and introspective voice. I bought it out of their player and anxiously took it home. I am extremely pleased with the purchase...
Her voice ranges from meaty and powerful to soft and subtle. It's hard to peg, but I would call it a combination of the soulfulness of Shannon Worrell, the beauty of Jewel, and the edge of a Mellissa Etheridge.
You know, it's funny. I haven't actively listed to a "Christian" performer in over ten years. But purely by accident, I came across this disc. It just goes to show you that there is a Higher Power pushing each of us along. Her songs speak volumes, and I find myself drawing both inspiration and peace from each one.
BUY THIS ALBUM.
