good to hear a rap album not focused on how much of a gangsta the artist, but mor focused on providing a creative bunch of songs with some thought put into the lyrics and music. phrasing is awesome from del the funky homosapien and excellent beats from dan the automator, which match perfectly with the underlying theme/story throughout the album

If you're one of the people who're obsessed with an emcee's region, then this is the best album to ever come out of the West Coast; a bold statement, yes, but definitely not an exaggeration. Del's lyrics are so further advanced than most of California contemporaries, and his concepts are brilliant. Some people can't appreciate this album, because they can't comprehend the messages Del's trying to convey; they don't understand the metaphores Del's portraying in his rhymes, relating these tales of little green men with tales of our everyday lives. Del isn't speaking jibberish, folks; he's spitting knowledge, it's just that he's spitting it in a highly esoteric manner. Not everyone's going to get the message, and I can guarantee no one will upon first listen; however, give it a few more listens, and pay attention to what Del has to say, and his intentions become clear. Much like avant-garde emcees before, and after him, such as Kool Keith and MF DOOM, Del is an artist that's too complex for the average hip-hop head, and must be given significant amount of time to fully appreciate. He's an acquired taste, I will admit, but he's one of the finest cuisines on the menu.
The epic 7 and a half minute long "3030" greets listeners, and most will be overwhelmed by the rhymes Del spits. Much like Kool Keith under the Dr. Octagon guise, Del's mind is an entirely different galaxy, as is Dan's production. This track alone is worth the purchase of this album; however, that's only the beginning of this amazingly dope trek. "Things You Can Do" is funkier than Del's name would have you believe, and "Positive Contact" is positively creepy. "Virus" is one of the strong social comentary moment on the album, where Del compares a computer virus in the year 3030 to the problems we face in this day, and age. The album continues delivering from there, with each track as ill as the next. Never once does the production dissapoint, nor does Del fail on the lyrical front.
This album is highly overlooked today, when it remains an undeniable classic in the hip-hop genre. Emerging at the turn of the new millenium, this album really set new standards for underground hip-hop in the new era. Often regarded as Del's finest effort, and Dan The Automator's best next to Dr. Octagon, Deltron 3030 is a trip every hip-hop head should experience once; I'd recommend you buy a lifetime pass, but some people have proven they're not willing to give Del more listens to decipher what his true motives are in this album.
Highly recommended, just have an open mind, and enough patience to let Del's works sink into your soul. If you allow these things to take place, you'll love this album for the brilliant masterpiece it truly is.

Sounds like the music industry could use some that Brymar College offering. Intelligence and originality are not given a light of day, it's the "hip-hop matrix" as Common called it. But, I guess it's up to each and every one of us to to look at all angles and dig up gems like Deltron 3030. Just my one cent's thought, and I'll leave it to you to decide whether you wanna feed your curiosity with this masterpiece. I have a feeling you won't regret it..!

I approve this album with the old school futuristic George Jetson stamp. Del is dope.

Lyrics = ***** (Fantastic. Del's style is unmatchable, and after hearing this album, I find that many mainstream hip-hop artists try to mimic his style and horribly fail)
Rhythm = ***** (Incredible, I bought the instrumental version of this album they are so good.)
Replayability = ***** (I have had this CD for almost 3 years now and I still pop it in every few days or so to listen to this masterpiece)
Deltron 3030 is musical fusion at its finest--Dan the Automator and Del tha Funky Homosapien merge lyrics and rhythm together to form unmatchable music. Although there are far too many skits on this CD, the songs are all PERFECT. This is what rap and hip-hop needs to model after, hip-hop is incredible without excessive swearing after all. Lyrics such as the following from Virus: "A lot of hackers tried viruses before / Vaporize your text like so much white out / I want it where a file replication is a chore / Lights out shut down entire White House / I don't want just a bug that could be corrected / I'm erecting immaculate design / Break the nation down section by section / Even to the greatest minds it's impossible to find." There is no other album you can listen to on repeat for 5+ days and not get tired of. The lyrics mesh PERFECTLY with the beats, which make for a killer album. Trust me, buy this one, you'll be glad you did.
Listen: "Positive Contact","Mastermind","Upgrade","Virus"
