- Haunting and honest
Sit down, light a cigarette, pour yourself a gin and tonic, and let this joy of an album wash over you. Relish the simplicity and raw beauty of this excessively talented young London duo. What a wonderful thing an almost entirely acoustic album is.

Honesty is the main thing that impresses me about this album. Not overly sentimental, not pretending to be cleverer than it is, just simple lyrics passionatley sung and laced with silky harmonies. Not the best album musically (you could find more guitar chords on a single Radiohead track) or lyrically ("hyper-real fragments disturbing the stagnance of almighty fear") but so completely charming. Beautiful songs beautifully sung, ideal to listen to while driving in a car on a warm night.

The Optimist is one of those cds that has the power to get under your skin, change your heart and wake you up to things going on in your life. I can't really put into words how wonderful this album is, but I promise after listening to their powerful harmonies, mind-blowing guitar and amazing lyrics, you'll tell everyone you know about these guys.

This south london duo namely Olly Knights(lead vocals and backing guitar) and Gale Paridjanian(backing vocals and lead guitar)have been compared to the likes of Coldplay, Travis and David Gray but really this is unfair as they are obviously better.The first song on the album entitled Feeling Oblivion has a soft and catchy melody that compliments their voices even though Olly sounds slightly hoarse and scratchy yet still enticing. Next is Underdog(save me), which has to be the best on the album in my opinion.With lyrics like "save me, save me from myself. I can't be the only one stook on the shelf,you said you'd always fall for the underdog". Olly sounds amazing on the track and Gale his best friend since the age of seven plays the guitar so well that it can encourage people to take up the guitar and follow in his steps( and yes Gale is a man).With other marvels on the album such as emergency 72 about the morning after pill(it has a weird topic but sounds great), future boy(knights travels ba
