DVD : Superman IV - The Quest for Peace

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Nice try, Superguy!
Superman must defeat Atomicman. Not much else. A valiant attempt to revive the sagging Superman series.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Last Christopher Reeve "Superman" film.
Christopher Reeve returns as "Superman" one last time. The story for this film was in part written by Christopher Reeve. Clark returns to his farm in Smallville where he grew up. The land is for sale. He goes back to the barn where he finds the glowing emerald spike. It is the last gift from his real mother on Planet Krypton (that was put in the module with him as a baby). Once he uses it, then he will be truly alone, without the guidence of his real dad or mother in image. His second parents that found him and raised him are now gone too. Clark has second thoughts about selling the farm. Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) is out of prison again. With a strand of Superman's hair, Lex is able to collect enough DNA to create "Nuclear Man" (Mark Pillow) who gets his energy from the sun. The special effects in this last one are really shoddy. The "blue screen" effect and how it pales Reeve and changes the color of his costume is yucky. Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980) are still the best.
Sadly, this fourth film really was to be the last Superman film for Christopher Reeve. On May 27, 1995, Reeve was in a horse-riding accident and it left him parlyzed from the neck to down. He had to continue breathing by a generated machine. His ability to talk and breathe had much improved. He made a guest spot on the WB tv series "Smallville" on February 23, 2003 in the episode "Rosetta" and the episode, ""Legacy" in April 2004.
Margot Kidder appeared in episode "Crusade" in September 2004 (Reeve could not make the trip so they asked Kidder) and the episode "Transference" in October 2004.
Christopher Reeve died September 10, 2004. He had an infected bedsore, went into a coma and died of heart failure.

"Superman Returns" with Brandon Routh in the title role released June 30, 2006.

***UPDATE: August 23, 2008, Warner Bros. has decided to do a remake of "Superman". They will start a new "Superman" project from scratch.
They are disappointed with Superman Returns (2006).
It is believed Superman: Man of Steel (2009) will be cancelled.
Mark Millar has an idea to make 3 "Superman" film in the "Lord of the Rings"-style and release them every year. The new "Superman" films will take on a darker tone.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just as good as Superman II...
This Superman is the best and last. It was low budgeted when compared to movies that came out in the same year. The FX aren't very good especially when compared with RoboCop or the Star Trek Next Generation TV series. The story is good, though. Mankind is on the brink of nuclear war. Although Superman is forbidden to change the course of mankind, he takes each missile and destroys it.
Criminal mastermind Lex Luthor returns with a devious plan to make Nuclear Man by taking a strand of Superman's hair from a museum, hiding it in a missile, and sending it to Superman. When Superman throws the last missile into the sun, it creates so much energy that his hair strand becomes Nuclear Man!
There is a huge factual error in this movie. When Lacy Wimfield is captured by Nuclear Man, she is brought up into space. But if you pay attention, you'll see she is getting weak and she wasn't in space that long for her blood to turn into gas or anything. Plus, she was flying at a fast speed. Even if there is an error there, it doesn't matter. It's still good.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It is the best for me!
Bad superman 4. Is that what you think? Yes?, then you should read this!

Now you know that there is a cut in the 134mins, you must just inmagine the 134 mins verison. Create yourself an adventure, rebuild your world of superman. and also, don't think Superman 4 is very bad. Because Richard Lester or Richard Dooner didn't direct it. So, they Idea will change as you think that Superman 4 will be the same as the other ones in the series. Now,As you learn why some films are bad, you can tell others why don't tellthe movie is bad....

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Is it true ???
