Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Superman Collection Review
I thought I would pay tribute to one of Christopher's Reeve's best role ever; and that role is Superman. As many comic book fans follow, the film tells the story of Clark Kent who was born on Krypton and was transported into Earth after the planet exploded and loses his real family. As a new family finds him in the field going home, the couple take Clark as their own son and raise him. What the couple know about Clark is that he has a gift to do things twice as fast than any other ordinary human being; but as time goes by, Clark loses his father of a stroke and decides to take a life of his own as he works for the Metropoltian Newspaper, he meets Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) and he has a crush on her, even saving the woman from being killed. Just like any comic book movie, there is always a villain; with Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor in a campy role along with Ned Beatty as Otis, the sycophant with no sense, these two plan to destroy the world with nuclear weapons. Christopher Reeve doesn't get into the Superman Costume until 45 minutes into the film in which he saves Lois in one scene, busts bad guys and becomes and icon to the public. Superman is the finest comic book movie, and I only wish Christopher Reeve's family the best.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - What a Superman Collection!!!!
I love this collection. This is might be the best movie I ever seen. I'll buy the smallville collection too when the season 5 hits on dvd. I will even buy the The New Adventure of Superman on dvd. Because I am a fan of Superman since I was still a kid.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good value, light on features
For the price you really can't beat this collection. There really aren't any special features, but who needs that when all the movies are so long? I really would have liked to have seen some "making of" types of things, but the picture quality and sound are pretty good.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Superman - The Movie
I'm only writing this review for the 1st movie in the boxed set of four films. It's what holds your imagination, suspended in time from when you first saw it again, (and again), as a kid. The reason I purchased this set, was not only for my love of the Superman film, but for the extended and deleted scenes, which honestly should never have been cut. Remember the trading card images of Superman walking through fire and being frozen in ice? Well its finally restored. You get the deleted scenes back in the movie, clean and polished. Not as an extra that you can view after the film. Its actually back in place where it belongs. Superman arrives underground on his way to meet Lex Luthor as Eve and Otis watch alongside on the big screen. Luthor tests several weapons in the chamber he has made to stop Superman. Machine guns slide out of walls and fire harmlessly off Superman, fire spouts out and engulfs Superman as he walks onwards unphased. Finally he is iced. Frozen solid. But he breaks free and continues onward into Lex's subway penthouse. We even get more on young Clark Kent racing along the train as a young Lois Lane looks on from within the train as it passes through Smallville. This DVD is worth the set. Though Superman II is in itself an awesome movie. I wonder why it's extra's were deleted. I recall several scenes that were cut, including Superman racing a concorde to Paris in the opening.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Up Up And AWAY!
I grew up with the four movies and I have not found another comic book superhero that compares to Superman...especially one played by Christopher Reeve. He was born for the part and outdid George Reeves (interesting how the two last names are EXTREMELLY similar) who was the original Superman in the 50's...something of which is *very* rare.

I was heart-broken to learn of Christopher Reeve's death. It was hard enough to see him trapped in that chair. But the "true" super-hero within him refused to stop fighting. This man has done more good than most of us in our lifetimes can ever imagine. With his involvment to spinal injuries, I can't but help but realize that it is very possible that I could be in his shoes one day. I have a severe case of Skoliosis where a steel rod holds my extreme curvature spine. I just hope that if I do become that way, that I can at least hold a light full of positive outlooks that Mr. Reeve did. But there is another hero that most of us has not mentioned. It's Mr. Reeves Wife. I can't think of one person who has had the strength and patience like Mrs Reeve has had. My hat goes off to her and the rest of her family. Thank you! :) He is and will always be a hero in everyway possible to millions throughout the world. We'll miss you Christopher and I look forward to the day that I will finally meet you in heaven and to thank him for all that he's done.

Anyway...

The first two movies were the best (which most of the people here seem to agree). The third was a complete joke! Even as a young child, I never felt "comfortable" with the storyline. Especially when they make Superman evil. It didn't fit with the character we've all known for years and years. The movie as a whole was all screwed up. In the first two movies, Lois Lane and Superman/Clark Kent were an item (especially in the 2nd movie). But they turn and twist everything around and barely show Lois in the third movie?? Then have Clark get involved romantically with Lana? What gives? That's all good and fine that he wants to change the ladies, but why the sudden change? The fourth flick was better than the third but even then it didn't have that "magic" like the first two were.
But the ironic thing is, you almost can't ignore the last two either (some people may disagree with me on that one). I'll buy the whole series because whether I like it or not, parts 3 and 4 won't be the same if I only bought my first 2 favorites.

If your the Superman fan like no other (such as me) then you need to buy this. AND it come in this really nifty and shiny box! ;)
