Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - The problem with it

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Complete Superman Collection
I am a huge fan of the Superman saga and look forward to seeing the 5th and final instalment in the series, Superman Returns (2006). Although no Christopher Reeve, It will probably be a good chapter. Myself and about 5 billion other people think that Superman: The Movie was the best out of the four. Then Superman II, III, and then IV: The Quest For Peace. The special effects (I thought) decreased as the series went on.

As far as the DVD set goes, I think that Warner Bros. did a terrible job at the case and the snap boxes inside. I am 12 and
I make my own movies and I have a movie set of 3 movies that I
home made and it look more proffesional that that. People love
the Superman films and its a shame that all they did was stick
the 4 movies in a shiney box. I'd give it a 2/5.

But if you love them , buy it!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - You'll Believe A Man Can Fly!
I got this at FYE,For Your Entertainment,in Courtland Center before it went out of business. I love the deleted scenes in Superman. There are some scenes in Superman 3,Where Brad and Gus are talking about Smallville Flash and Brad's boss was cut out.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - not what it could have been but still good for the most part
The original SUPERMAN is a classic of course and the DVD treatment does the movie justice. The DVD version has extra footage throughout the film as well as other special features on the disc. Overall no complaints for Superman though I didn't care for that one scene with Lois thinking out loud while flying with Superman (good grief, that was a drawn out scene!). SUPERMAN II was when the series started to get butchered. As you may or may not know, Director Richard Donner of the first Superman did a portion of Superman II but was later fired for I don't know what reason. Director Richard Lester took over and excluded numerous Donner scenes from the final production. The exclusive footage that was cut for Superman II has aired on network television in the past and I must say that viewing the extended version is definately worth it! You can find bootleg DVDs of the extended version on Ebay. And yes, I suggest you get a copy if you come across one! Despite the major editing flaw, Superman II is as good if not more superior to the original and some say that its the best sequel in the series. SUPERMAN III is the sequel in the series that has received many mixed reviews. Yes, the plot of this movie took a break from the evil schemes of Lex Luthor and the other main characters don't have much of a part in this one but that doesn't automatically make Superman III a bad movie. Regardless, I think that Superman III is just as good as the previous films. You get to see an important character from Clark Kent's past along with the character of Richard Pryor who adds some good humor to the movie. Now I noticed that some of you reviewers bashed this movie simply because you felt that Richard Pryor had too much of a part and Christopher Reeve didn't have enough of a part. I have to disagree and even if Pryor is the other main character, why is that so bad? Like Superman II, Superman III had some footage taken out that has aired on network television. As with Superman II, you can find bootleg extended versions of Superman III on Ebay and I suggest you get a copy if you come across one! Despite the editing flaws, Superman III has the best humor of the series in my opinion and if you watch it for what it is instead of comparing it to the plots of the first two then you will more than likely enjoy it as much as I do. Superman III is yet another great sequel in the series. SUPERMAN IV brought an end to the series but sadly it did not go out with a bang. In fact, this movie was somewhat of a disgrace to Christopher Reeve and the fans alike and rightly so. What was the problem with it?... Too many plot holes! That's right, the final production of Superman IV was reduced from 134 minutes to a simple 90 minutes and what's even worse is that this footage is said to have been lost for good and only aired once on network television. And no, so far a bootleg extended edition does not exist to my knowledge. In short, there was so much that should have been done with this movie. Even with a 90 minute run time, Superman IV seemed to drag a little and that's pretty sad if you ask me. Bringing back the main characters from the series and Lex Luthor's brilliant creation of Nuclear Man was not enough to save the final Superman flick. As for the DVD features, none of the sequels have anything to offer. Despite the major editing flaws throughout the series and the overall disappointment of Superman IV, I still think this box set is worth picking up if you don't already have Superman on DVD. As long as greed lurks in the hearts of film producers, a series such as this will more than likely not be given the treatment it deserves.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Excellent 1&2, Poor 3&4
Superman 1 & 2 are the best, the other two just dont make the cut. The problem is not at all that Superman 3 & 4 didnt get the digital treatment, but these two movies are poorly rendered and performed. Maybe just Superman III makes up a bit cause Christoper Reeve excellent performance when doing the evil & depressed Superman. From there, everything is so pointless. Advise for my mexican & Latin american comrades: Not every movie in this set has spanish subtitles.

This set is worth to have for any Superman fanatic, but if you like it only ocassionaly I recommend only the first two movies.
