Brooding and elegant, the songs on this compilation flow over you like a wave. "Stars all Seem to Weep" has this longing moody vibe to it, and the low-key "Funky for You" is the song to listen to when you're cruising down city streets at one in the morning. This should be the standard for all mix albums.

Nice selection, from hip-hop, house, and ambient to soul and even folk. Even though it does inspire some body movement, overall, it's a laid-back, smooth mix--in keeping, of course, with this series' intentions. 2 complaints: Beth Orton's "Stars All Seem to Weep" is played everywhere, so even though it is good, why put it here too? Second, after a great house groove is established in tracks 5, 6, 7 (truly infectious stuff), and then slowed down a bit with the techno-ambience of 8, we get, quite abruptly, O'Hara's folksy vocals, and then on to relaxed hip-hop from the Roots: O'Hara's song is OK, but it just doesn't fit in here. Kudos, anyway, to EBtG's picks and quietly effective mixing.

Everything But the Girl opened my strictly R&B loving eyes to trip-hop and electronica with thier past album "Walking Wounded". They have done it again with this brilliant collection of goodies. My particular favorites are the Deadbeats "Funky For You", that funky Model 500's "The Flow" and the Roots, "Silent Treatment". To top things off, Donny Hathaway comes from left field with "Someday We'll all be Free".

I have several of the Back to Mine collections and this one, followed closely by Faithless, is the best of the bunch. Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn have incredible taste in house, trance and ambient music. "Do It Now" is the high point on this cd and its bookened by some other incredible tracks. A must.

This was the first of the series that I purchased and I was hooked. I have been an EBTG fan for some time so I immediately bought this CD. Love the start.. light and dreamy.. the pace increases with some house, french disco.. then the mood lightens to the end.. Great choice of songs.. some popular, others not. Great intro to BTM series.
