My oh my, I just finished to listening to this CD and with the exception of track 10 (hip hop rap stuff with the "N" word - blech), it is wonderful. Very infectious grooves, great drum & bass pieces expertly remixed by EBTG.

Im not a big fan of 'recycled' music in the sinse that its mixed and remixed to alter it from its original status but not make different. In this collection of rehashes Im pleased to discover that big flaw has been rectified. You can hear traces of the original music but the remixed style is clearly dominant in a very respective way. My one regret is Tracey Thorn's voice isnt on this collection, still if you are a big ETBG (from the beginning not just 'Walking Wounded') then you will like it.

A decent compilation, but it's misleading to present this as a CD by Everything But the Girl. "Various Artists" should be the credit. I knew what I was getting when I bought the CD, but I can't help thinking there will be disappointed customers who instant-order the CD the minute they see the name.

If you truly plan on buying this cd, i suggest you find a way to download it first and listen to it. In comparison to EBTG's other albums, this is bad, i suggest if you want to buy an EBTG album dont buy this one.Buy any of their other albums and you will be happy. What i really loved about everything but the girl is Tracey's vocals and this album fails to exploit it. I dont know how anyone can listen to this cd from start to end, its just 2 depressing...believe me, buy any other album of theirs, you'll love it.

for all of you who are confused about why something would be called an ebtg cd but isn't - the back to mine series is all about songs that well known bands would pick if you went over to their place. the interest behind it is discovering and listening to a band's influences, what catches their ear, etc. none of the back to mine cds are songs by that actual band.
now i know that i haven't broken down the track listing and talked about what i like/don't like, but i felt that i had to explain the purpose of these cds. ebtg are just the latest band in the whole series. check out other great ones by bands like faithless and groove armada.
