alot of peoples reviews have been moaning about it being an emo album, or a pop album. I dont know if it is pop, punk, emo, pop-punk, punk-emo, all i know is that this is a very underated album. there are no songs on this album that i want to skip, it has slow and fast songs, and catchy guitar riffs(i think the word im looking for is riffs)so all in all i think if most people listen to it with an open mind they will enjoy it. if you start slaging it of before you have even heard it, the you wont

The emo-rock band, Jimmy Eat World, will definitely change the world of modern rock with their newest album, Bleed American. There are about a thousand reasons why you would love this CD, but one main reason is their new and different sound. Their unique style and sound reminds me of Weezer, Green Day, and Third Eye Blind combined, and they are a great mix. I bought the album for the song Bleed American, their title track, but was soon hooked on the catchy choruses, great lyrics, and fabulous instrumentalists and vocals of every song on the CD. Another reason you will adore this album is the meaningful lyrics of their songs. They sing mainly about growing up, love, success, confidence, and being hurt. Jimmy Eat World definitely doesn't deserve the teeny-bop-bubble-gum-rock-pop tag that has been unfairly placed on them and they prove it with the meanings behind the great songs on their CD. One song, Hear You Me, is about losing someone you love unexpectedly and not being able to say goodbye or tell them that you love them, and praying that angels will lead them into heaven. Another awesome song, In the Middle, is all about learning that you are good enough, not to change for anyone, and that perseverance will make good things happen. I think both songs carry a meaningful message that everyone can apply to their life to be a happier, better person. To find a CD with all great songs is a rare occasion, but it can be found on Jimmy Eat World's Bleed American. There is obviously no doubt that you too will love every song on this fabulous CD.

I'm not sure what Jimmy Eat World is aiming for. The unique mix of dark ballads, hard-core emo tunes, and energetic power-pop songs makes it very hard to describe this album. Despite that, there is something in here for pretty much anyone willing to tolerate their inconsistency. Then again, that's not a bad thing; bands must reach out and explore different properties of their genre. Jimmy Eat World, on their self-entitled compilation of both hits and more obscure titles, does just that and does it effectively.
From the screaming and thrashing guitars of "Bleed American" to the haunting lyrics of "Hear You Me", the variety of these radio-friendly rockers is one of the album's strongest points. The hits "Sweetness" and "The Middle" express a polished mainstream aspect that is both catchy and clever. Many of the lyrics consist of the raw emotion (including suicide and relationships rising and falling) that is commonplace in many of today's emo bands. Despite how bubblegum kiddie pop they might come off as, Jimmy Eat World succeeds in finding a solid balance that is very rare for any musicians to achieve.
The music never gets repetitive, despite the fact that there are several hits sandwiched in here. At times, optimism and an outlook on the world that brings a smile to anyone's face is weaved in with generous amounts of instrumental and vocal freedom. At other times, the soul of the darker tracks may very well encourage tears to flow. And still, there are moments when the anger and frustration build up effectively inside the listener's head and make them feel like they will burst at any time.
It's easy to see why Jimmy Eat World are a hit band. It's not because they're exactly the same as everyone else - it's because they have balance and talent within themselves that appeals to people in for a real treat. Pick up this album if you can find it. I promise you won't be disappointed.

JEW is by far the best emo rock band out there!!! I love every single one of their fabulous songs! I think that they will stand the test of time and be around FOREVER....forever....forever.....mwahahahahahahahahahaha harha.
They rock my socks, but I am not wearing them now!! hahs

I think JEW is one of the best punk/rock band out there. Some people think that it is an emo band but its straight out rock! I bought the cd because I loved the song Sweetness but now every single one of Jimmy Eat World'd song make it on my top few favorite songs. They are definitly going to stand the test of time and i think they are today's beatles of rock!
