Music : The Golden Hum

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - originality in a fair little world of mindless wonders
Opening up the golden hum.. the self titled instrumental leading up remy zero's hardest tinged alternative song to date "glorious #1" pumpkinesque at times.. bonoesque at times.. but wait.. There is no billy corgan or no bono here. Just alabama rockers remy zero and a little help from producers Flood and Alan Moulder on previous works, possibly twisting and weaving their image with the bigger bands of the 90's. Make no mistake.. even without the talented flood, these artists are individuals that direct the flow of music like classical composers of ancient ages. Perfect Memory speaking of towers and the doomsday scenerio follows throughout the album, prophetic at times and scary to think that this album was pre 9-11. Best album of the decade so far in my opinion... Very worth the dough, if you want to have a cd in your collection to stand the test of time.. The golden hum is an ageless wonder that will never sound dated.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Emotional perfection
Cinjun Tate of Remy Zero is the newest addition to my list of all time favorite vocalists. His singing swoops and swirls and settles down into emotional crevices you didn't even know you had. He reminds me of The Bends-era Thom Yorke and Unforgettable Fire-era Bono. The musical arrangements are of course just as good and dramatic, but it's almost like Cinjun's voice is leading the music through the changes (even tho in the songwriting process of most bands the words and vocals usually come second). Check out the gut-wrenching vocals on songs like Perfect Memory, Save Me (the way he soars on these two is amazing and breathtaking), Belong, and Smile. Of course, every song is perfect but I just wanted to narrow it down instead of listing the whole album (which, believe me, is very tempting to do).

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Really Enjoyed This Album!
I don't watch Smallville, but I was changing channels one night and caught "Save Me" playing. I looked up the show on the net, who the band was and the rest is history. What a break.

I'm generally someone who only listens, for the most part, to bands from the 60's, 70's, ala Byrds, Dylan, Gene Clark.
So it was very cool to find a band/album that I can really get into in this day and age.

This is a great album. The more you listen to it, the more you will like it. While the singer does have a little of the Bono/Radiohead vibe in his voice, he and the band generate their own style which seems to be somewhat psychedelic, and straight ahead Rock n' Roll based, with obvious 60's, 70's influence.

Some of the best songs in my mind, and the ones that I can't stop playing over and over are "Glorious #1", "Out/In", "Save Me", "Over the Rails", "Smile" and "Impossibility". While the entire album is pretty darn good, these songs really grab at you in comparison. A great buy, go out and get it. Listen to the samples if you don't believe me. :}

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - THE GOLDEN HUM
THIS IS A VERY GOOD CD NICE AND MELLOW.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Remy Rocks
Since Remy Zero is one of my favorite bands, I know that this review is a tad bit biased. If you like indie rock or in other words, good music, you'll like this cd. It's fun and I never get tired of it, but that's probably because it's not on the radio every 3 minutes. I love bands that a lot of people aren't in to but I wish everyone was into this because they really deserve the fan base. Every track is great so I don't really have a favorite, although "Save Me" drew me in (especially since I watch Smallville). I also recommend Phantom Planet, Caedmon's Call, Bebo Norman, Jude, Pete Yorn, and John Mayer (among about a billion other great bands including Dave Matthews).
