These guys are great. I don't know how they got overlooked. They are broken up now, and that makes me sad. This plus their other two albums are still in circulation on my play list.

Remy Zero is such an awesome band! Every song on this CD is great! The Golden Hum is the kind of CD you could never get sick of. Beautiful lyrics sung by the amazing voice of Cinjun Tate! At moments, the CD is folkie, at others, it sounds like indie rock. If you have heard the theme for smallville, " Save Me", that song is just the beginning! You must get this CD!

I fear that people will overlook this album because the only Zero song they know is Save Me, and figure that no band who sings the theme song to a WB show is a band they want to listen to. DON'T ASSUME THAT! Remy Zero is extremely talented, and Save Me is not the sappy U2 knockoff that it sounds like in the Smallville intro. (In fact, you wouldn't know you were listening to Save Me until you heard the refrain, and even then its different). The whole album is full of brilliant alt rock music. The final track, Impossibility, is unquestionably the best song on the album, for multiple reasons (its hidden track is even better than itself). Don't buy this album if you want American Radiohead. It's not, and it is sometimes compared to Radiohead (and Coldplay, U2, etc.) All of said bands are great. Remy Zero, however, has a distinct alt-rock-on-a-beach kind of feel to it; they are in their own genre. To lump them with those other bands is like putting a chicken into an elephant cage.
This metaphor works on multiple levels, however, because, quite frankly, Remy Zero are not as good as Radiohead or Coldplay or U2. That's why this album gets four stars instead of five. You're better off buying something from said bands (unless you've already bought everything by them).

The first time I heard this CD, I didn't exactly like it and put it away for a few weeks. I decided to give it another chance, and since then, every time I listen to it, I love it even more. It's so unique that I don't understand these comparisons to U2, etc. Remy Zero's so much better than them (sorry if you don't agree). Cinjun's vocals drive these beautifully written songs. Anyone who likes real music needs this CD.

Like alot of people, I was led to buy this album because of its inclusion of the popular theme "Save Me," of Smallville fame. Of course, when I bought the album, that song was the only one that I listened to for days.
Then I began to listen to the CD in its entirety. I'm not going to make comparisons to other bands; Remy Zero has a mood, a feeling that it evokes, all its own. Its effects are like none that I have ever experienced listening to music before. For me, their music is capable of stirring melancholy and reminiscence of youth, in some cuts, and in others it rises to channel pure bliss and optimism.
My favorite songs would be "Perfect Memory," which should cause anyone who has ever experienced devastating loss to cry if they listen closely to the lyrics, and "Impossiblity," which ends the album on a very positive and inspiring note. All in all, this is the album I'd recommend above all others. (That is, this is the best CD I've ever owned.)
