This is a excellent Goo Goo dolls CD. Right on par with Dizzy Up The Girl. I think the standout track here is "Its Over". Every song is enjoyable. If you like the Goo Goo Dolls in any way, buy this CD.

All I can say is that this album is pretty much perfect! I love Johnny so much and think that his sexy voice makes this a must have album for anyone.

I have never really been interested in Goo Goo Dolls music. I heard Iris on the radio and such, but it never hit me.... until i heard this cd. I would recommend this cd even if it just had Big Machine and Think about me(best Goo Goo Doll song!!!!) on it.

Gutterflower definitely sounds like it was a struggle. Its brooding, dark, and angry. The biggest mistake is the "Na Na" section of "What a scene," which stretches on for about 2 minuets. Don't get me wrong. I love the Goo Goo Dolls, but, this album doesnt stand up to the wonder that was Dizzy up the Girl. Gutterflower has solid material, and awesome production, but the standouts are few and far between. I guess what I mean to say, is that they won't be reaching a broader audience with this record. The standouts are "Big Machine", "Here is Gone", "What do you need?", and "Truth is a Whisper". All were written by Rzeznik, and all have that certain touch of grey that is required for a good angsty rock song. To sum things up, a solid, if not broad effort.

this album was definitely a disappointment after DUTG, but it still has some great songs, some good songs, and some alright songs..
1. Big Machine 3/5 this song is pretty good, but it doesn't really hit me. 2. Think About Me 4/5 i actually never liked this song; but i heard em play it live on tv (on the today show, i think), and i was like, wow, that song's pretty good. 3. Here Is Gone 3/5 this song's good, but certainly a disappointing first single considering the awesome singles off of the previous album. 4. Ya Never Know 2/5 oh no, this guy. 5. What A Scene 3/5 the verses are good; the chorus is decent. the 'nah nah nah's are good, but a bit repetitive. 6. Up Up Up 2/5 'are you listening now?' i think it's funny he starts the song off with that, cuz i bet a lot of people are skipping this track, and not 'listening now'. 7. It's Over 5/5 now this track (and the next one) really stand out. this is one of the best goo goo dolls songs i've ever heard. 8. Sympathy 5/5 beautiful, perfect song. 9. What Do You Need? 3/5 an alright song; just doesn't do much for me. except that really slow part where the music almost stops; that's awesome. 10. Smash 2/5 *smashes the skip button* 11. Tucked Away 2/5 almost as bad as the last one. 12. Truth Is A Whisper 4/5 ends with a good song.
ok, so that's 3+4+3+2+3+2+5+5+3+2+2+4/60 = 38/60 = 3.167/5
ok, now let's take the bad singer off..
3+4+3+3+5+5+3+4/40 = 30/40 = 3.75/5
so, if you skip his songs, it's a pretty good album.
i think it's worth getting, just for tracks 7 and 8.
