Dudes. What? Are you kidding me? This is so bad it's almost funny. As a comedy album it is somewhat funny. So bad. It's fake rock. and to take their name from one of the greatest bands in the world. Worst ever. I'm laughing right now. What is it people see in these guys? I don't know. The Deep Purple of the 2000;s = Worst ever.

The Mooney Suzuki is essentially trying to be the Jimi Hendrix Experience of recent times. They somewhat succeed - at least in how they sound. The problem with The Mooney Suzuki is that the songs aren't deep enough and they're slightly cheesy as opposed to practically every Jimi Hendrix song. They're definitely fun and catchy, but in terms of longevity they're only good if you happen to have them (i.e. it's one of those records that's great to have but not essential). The singer is definitely trying to mimic Jimi, and he pretty much succeeds (my dad thought it was Jimi when I played this). Musically it's garage rock that sounds pretty darn close to anything Jimi Hendrix. The instrumentation is really really good, though (the production is pretty well done). Thankfully every song is good here. Overall it's a pretty good record which I think garage rock fans should be pleased with. Highly recommended!
Highlights include:
the entire album!

This album is rock `n roll...pure and simple. It is raw, energetic and very real. It is so much better than their new major label debut "Alive & Amplified" which sounds nothing like this. There are a lot of great retro CD's out there right now but this is the best I've heard. This album should win an award for `most great guitar riffs per mile' not to mention some great distorted guitar sounds to cleanse your ears with. Like any great `60's garage rock album, this includes two rocking instrumentals and one ballad. Best song is "In a Young Man's World" which sounds like a cross between MC5 and The Who. Plus all the guys in this band look like they could be the offspring of Iggy Pop (and maybe they are).

MC5 for a new generation.
