The Mooney Suzuki is another great band from NYC. They are high energy, explosive and cocky as well. Although this album doesnt give off as good of an example of their attitude as their first album, People Get Ready, it is an excellent buy. Each song is a gem in their own right and the heart-wrenching ballad The Broken Heart is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Sammy James Jr. is a very soulful man, and he might as well be a preacher because he has given me faith in Rock'n'Roll many'o'times.

It sounds live (and that's a good thing)
This is truly a band that understands "what they do best" and bothers not with anything else. There is much good to say about this CD but it's so highly reviewed that I thought that wasn't as important as what I think might be wrong.
When a Garage/rock/retro/60' & 70's/ ultra cool rock band gets as much underground press as these guys get it might also be a "caution" or red flag.
The hooks are very "heard it before" and the rhythms are also likely to make you say "oh yeah that's just like"... That's not always a bad thing.
Lets not start crowning these guys as anything other than a group of well practiced rockers pumping out previously released classics from the basement files. True, that's a cool place to be, for any band, but it should come with a small dose of "So what"
Now let me be clear, my copy of this CD is not for sale, I truly enjoy it and get the joke (as seriously as it may be delivered) point being, if you need a new batch of basement tracks and rough rock live feeling dirt punk, this will hit the spot like a cool shot of cheap whisky.
I'm drinking it down right now. Truly enjoyable. Like cheap whisky, after a few tracks (shots) what it lacks eventually becomes meaningless and "you get into it, and have fun. Also keep in mind that you will have a hangover after too many rounds of "the Suzuki"
HIT IT BOYS!!!!

someday these 40 year old men will realize that their time has come and gone. LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME.
(i like the strokes and the white stripes. i'm not some stupid pop-punker who doesn't "get it." i just think these guys are terrible.

I just saw them yesterday at Lollapalooza on the second stage, and was blown away by their performance. These guys not only know how to play and perform their songs and act, but just permeated energy the whole time they were on stage. I bought the cd there, and it is just as good as I hoped it would be. My review may be a little biased because whenever I listen to the cd i see them performing the songs in my head, but even if you havent had the pleasure of seeing them live, buy the cd if your a fan of rock'n'roll!

I just saw them yesterday at Lollapalooza at the second stage, and these guys really know how to rock. They just permeate energy off the stage, and really get the crowd into the act. I bought "Electric Sweat" there, and my view point is a little biased, since whenever I hear any of the songs on the cd, i instantly see them performing it live in my head, but even if you havent had the pleasure to see them live, i recommend this cd to anyone that likes rock'n'roll!
