Stanley Climbfall

In association with Amazon.com
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best of the Lifehouse Albums
More mature than the self-titled album and superior (or at least equal to) to No Name Face, the unfortunately overlooked Stanley Climbfall album remains the best work by the band to date. Smoke and Mirrors? Okay. But it's not in the same league as this disc. Sure there's no pop single to jump out and grab you; if you're into that sort of music check out their other albums. What the band did deliver here is a deeply layered and introspective work with well crafted songs, brilliant lyrics, and thought provoking rock that will make and endless road trip not seem like such a bad thing. After years of listening, it's still one of my favorite albums of all time. Highly recommend.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I LOVE this CD
I've had this CD for about three years now and I never get tired of listening to it, especially Spin, Take Me Away, and Out of Breath! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! I've downloaded this CD to my ipod and consistently add several of the songs to new playlists that I create. I have alot of CD's and music downloads and Stanley Climbfall is definitely one of my all time favorites. I think Jason has an amazing voice...and I think the band does a great job musically and on back up vocals. There are some awesome guitar riffs and drums...edgy sounds that I love. Lifehouse has become one of my favorite bands and I really hope they go out on tour because I would love to be able to see them in concert. (Just an aside, I didn't realize they were/are considered a Christian band.)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - almost as good as the first
This was almost as good as their first album. Several of the songs sounded a little darker, Maybe a bit on the "negative" side, but I still liked it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - 'Stanley' Climbs to The Top
After the unprecedented success of "Hanging By A Moment," Lifehouse took the genre they inevitably bore and ran with it. The result is a follow-up forever foreshadowed by the success of its predecessor, but arguably tops it. Taking a heavy-dose from the grunge genre, Lifehouse all but nixes any acoustic or poppy elements from their sound, as it all takes a very raw, rough, but rockin' turn instead. I personally love every moment of it, as it's on the edge, and it's almost one long consistent jam session that the band really ran and had fun with.

Standout tracks include "Spin," "Sky Is Falling," "Stanley Climbfall," and the highlight/album-definer "Take Me Away."

Overall, on a recent list I made of the top 15 albums in Christian music, I placed this particular work at #9, saying "If 'No Name Face' bore modern rock as we know it, then "Stanley Climbfall" perfected it. It's still one of the most consistent records I've ever heard." Well, that pretty much sums it up. It's highly controversial, especially since this album has been largely forgotten, but it is a true masterpiece in the genre of modern rock. Sure, 'No Name Face' has the moving work of "Everything," but 'Stanley Climbfall' has the consistency and the driving "Take Me Away." I still am however confused about the title. 'Stanley Climbfall.' What does that even mean?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - bad sales dont equal bad album
Sadly even the very band thought that this album was a bad move. Contrary to some of their fans and even the band itself this album was actually very good. The only problem was the lack of radio friendly songs or anything like Hanging By A Moment. But with that said this album did what it was supposed to do and it was to show maturity and a different sound.

1. Spin-Very good song, only thing I don't like is the ending but for some fans they may actually enjoy it. That or it could have been shorter, but even then it's still fairly good.
2. Wash-Not one of my favorites but something that is still listenable. It has a different feeling from the other songs. Still interesting and worth listening to.
3. Sky Is Falling-Very nice song. One of the happier songs on the album and more upbeat as well.
4. Anchor-While I particularly don't like like it or couldn't get into it, it at least gives the album a song for those who are looking for a song that utilizes that "Rock" sound from an electric guitar. If any song sounds "hard" it would be this one
5. Am I Ever Gonna Find Out-Seems to be missing an intro, sort of just jumps into the song but it's actually very good considering what the song before it does to you. Also one of the more upbeat awake songs.
6. Stanley Climbfall-This song is best appreciated when in a quiet place in the dark. The way it starts it's so calm and sort of just takes you into another world, definitely one of those songs that just moves you inside
7. Out Of Breath-If you liked "Hanging By A Moment" then you'll like this song. They should've released this song instead as a single, it might've done better than "Spin" radiowise.
8. Just Another Breath-If you liked "Am I Ever Gonna Find Out" you're gonna like this one too. Also one of those upbeat songs.
9. Take Me Away-this one was by far the best one for the radio. Had this song been released 1st and a good video with it the album would've done better. It does what "Anchor" was supposed to do in terms of having the "rock" sound of the guitar along with that moving feeling of "Stanley Climbfall".
10. My Precious-certainly a different sound but makes you feel like you're slowly walking in a cave. However somebody else may like the feeling it gives and it at least stands out in a way from the other songs.
11. Empty Space-a surprisingly more sort of happy song. while not a favorite of mine, it is perfect for setting up for the next song
12. The Beginning-ironically this is put at the end but it is one of those songs that you can just imagine people uniting together and sort of just creating peace. Where in "No Name Face" "Everything" ended it with an emotional song(not complaining), The Beginning gives it a nice happy ending feel to the album.

If you have the special edition of this album theres two more tracks
13. How Long-this should've been in the original album and it could've easily replaced "Anchor", "Empty Space", "My Precious" or "Wash" for that matter easily. If you liked the feel you get from songs like "Stanley Climbfall" then you'll like this one for sure.
14. Sky Is Falling(acoustic). nothing more to be said. a nice acoustic version of it.

It's really not a bad album and had there been different songs released as singles and had it had better promotion the album could have done well. It does what the album needed to do which was to show maturity and give a different sound rather than do the same thing as the No Name Face. If anything, the real disappointments are their self titled album "Lifehouse" and "Who We Are" which both lack the emotion, arrangements, and the almost spiritual feeling you get from "No Name Face" and "Stanley Climbfall"
