Bands like Remy Zero should learn how to play their instruments before volunteering to write songs for a good TV show like Smallville. The lead singer whines and wanes in his mono-tonal voice "somebody saaaaaave me, don't care how you do it just saaaaaave me,". Now, I do realize that the youth of today don't have very good judgement when it comes to music and that's what WB wants to put in the show to make kids watch it, but could'nt they at least get an orchestra to do the opening theme music??? The ending theme is the only good music on the show. I don't go in for this obnoxious alternative teeny bopper music that Allison Mack's character seems to like so much for God knows what reason. Anyways the rest of the music is exactly the same, too loud at ANY decibel level and the singers voice is in constant tonal purgatory. That is to say it goes nowhere and also that it probably took these bands all of two minutes to write these songs without the slightest bit of musical inspiration or effort to write something that does'nt offend my sense of decency. Well, guess this means I won't be buying the 2nd and 3rd season DVD's... BECAUSE OF THE HORRIBLE MUSIC!!!!!

...And not a 1 hit wonder as reveiwer djdrq would suggest. I don't own this album, but I've watched the shows and know that this CD is worth owning if you enjoyed the music from the series soundtrack.
I just wanted to say djdrq is way off. Remy Zero, creator of the show's theme Save Me, is a great group and NOT a one hit wonder. True, their only real commercial success has been Save Me, but as anyone who owns their albums can attest, this is a great group with intelligent songwritting, aswsome playing, and super singing. They don't have many bad songs in fact. The album which Save Me comes from, The Golden Hum, is a true no-skipper, all the tracks are good. Villa Elaine is another great album.
Sorry gang, I know I got a bit off topic, but I had to defend what I and others feel is a great band worth listening too, commercial success or no.
Watch the show and buy the soundtrack. Stay away from red kryptonite (and green for that matter).

First of all, great music. A nice sampling of some bands that are worth checking out.
Second, the CD uses a copy protection scheme that prevents you from copying the music to a portable MP3 player. I don't object to the copy protection itself, but shipping what is, in effect, a defective CD (i.e. it doesn't meet the specifications) without a clear and obvious warning label is one step away from fraud.

Save Me - Remy Zero...is the reason that you even looked into this soundtrack. Don't even bother researching Remy Zero looking for another one hit wonder like Save Me, because it doesn't exist. In fact Save Me is the only reason why they exist. Compilations usually display all the bands with their best foot forward, but anyone with a keen ear for Bad-Wine-Jazz can tell that Remy Zero is by far the best song, maybe even worth $10 all by itself, or maybe not! Just by the single and save yourself $10.

Aside from the horrible pun of my review's title, there's nothing bad about this soundtrack. I had been put off by a lot of the modern "superhero soundtracks" lately, like Spider-man and Daredevil, where the music was considerably harder edged than what I enjoy, but Smallville kept itself a little more conservative. Some songs are better than others, of course, but no song is better than "Superman" by Five For Fighting. Totally appropriate on this album and in the series. Pick it up, you'll enjoy.
