Aside from the horrible pun of my review's title, there's nothing bad about this soundtrack. I had been put off by a lot of the modern "superhero soundtracks" lately, like Spider-man and Daredevil, where the music was considerably harder edged than what I enjoy, but Smallville kept itself a little more conservative. Some songs are better than others, of course, but no song is better than "Superman" by Five For Fighting. Totally appropriate on this album and in the series. Pick it up, you'll enjoy.

My husband and I watch Smallville regularly, so I recently purchased this soundtrack for him as a gift. While we love the theme song and enjoy much of the other music on the show, I did fear the the CD would contain some of the show's more metal-sounding tunes. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that this is a soundtrack of very mellow music--think of the many sweet but sad songs that are played as Clark and/or Lana stares off into space at the end of each episode. There are also two cover tunes for the older crowd: Time After Time (made famous by Cyndi Lauper, who co-wrote the song with Rob Hyman of The Hooters) and Don't Dream It's Over (Crowded House). This collection serves as great background music for relaxing or even a dinner party; recommended for other 30-something Smallville fans like us.

Great album! The CD includes a variety of songs all straight from the WB's "Smallville": Remy Zero's smash theme song "Save Me", Sixpence None The Richer's cover of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over", Five For Fighting's "Superman", and mine and my wife's personal favorite, LifeHouse's "Everything". Quite a few suprises seem to spice up the flavor, such as Weezer's "Island In The Sun" (which is really catchy), and "Nuclear" by Ryan Adams. I give it a 4 (even though it deserves a 5) because the music is so good it should've been a double CD compilation of music from the show.

This is a good album, with a couple which are everybody's favs, a few quality but lesser-known tracks, and some decent filler.
This is labelled the Talon Mix, so you can probably expect some more Smallville albums to come.
Like a lot of Smallville fans, I'm sure, I often find myself thinking what an excellent soundtrack the show pulls together every week. I think that left me a little disappointed when about half the songs on the album just didn't evoke for me the way the do in the show. It's still good, but just not all as good as they seemed in the show. Let's have that first season DVD and get the whole package!
