For those like myself who have enjoyed Cartoon Network's fine series, The Justice League, you may have felt like something was missing, namely Hawkman. Peanut butter and jelly, Hawkman and Hawkgirl. They go together. I had always hoped he would make an eventual appearance, and in Starcrossed, he does in a big way. In the movie, the sky over Earth is filled with Hawkmen, pleasantly reminiscent of Buck Rogers.
Although cool and formidable, Hro is a villian in this movie. Voiced perfectly by the talented Victor Rivers, Hro comes off as a Spartan warrior bent on saving his home world of Thanagar at any cost. Hawkgirl is shockingly revealed as a spy, and pays a terrible price for her deceit.
So what is stopping you from seeing this? Romance between Green Lantern and Hawkgirl; you see Hawkgirl without her mask, Batman takes his mask off to reveal his face and his identity to the shocked League; all take refuge in the Batcave; Alfred is there. The DVD has great extras including a tour of the Watchtower, character bios of the seven League members with clips of each one in action, very good deleted scenes including storyboard line animation, and a special "Hawkman: From Comic to Cartoon."

Why does Hawkgirl had to leave the League?????? Imagine in real life where you were in the Justice League Team and Hawkgirl, ( under some circumstances that she had to 'betray' you ), how would you feel? Would you allow her to continue to stay in the team? Will you be able to full trust her again? I'm sure even GL John Stewart will not fully trust her again ( due to his soldier character type ) and that's why Hawkgil has to go... for the moment. Well... anyway she'll be back in Justice League Unlimited in the episode 'Wake The Dead'. Catch her in action again then!!!!

Justice League made its TV debut not long ago, over 3 years back and it has become an International success. Although series one and two were average, this feature length movie overcomes the regular episodes and sees the Heros at their finest. Where else can you find Batman, Wonder woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Man hunter, Hawk girl, and Superman at the same team, further more, the story has surpass recent episodes shown at WB, and this DVD will truly be a collectors item seeing as it is the first ever DVD release of the successful animated show, Justice League.
If you love this show, don't have any doubts of getting the brand new third series on DVD or VHS this summer containg all new villains like Plague and the Hawk men and classic villains like Joker, the Injustice League, Darkseid, Lex Luthor and Parasite, and special guest appearances from Aqua Man, Lobo and Dr. Midnight or better get the Trilogy series (Series 1, 2 and the smash hit series 3) due out by Christmas, which will make a great gift.
Don't forget other great titles like World's Greatest, The Superman/Batman Adventures, Batman the Animated Series and Teen Titans

This is a wonderful animated movie! It works on all levels, the most important being it is simply a great story told with flair and very tight pacing. I actually find it hard to believe this was originally done as three television episodes. This is what I love, a great treatment of great characters that I have known and loved for so many years. This easily ranks with the best of the early Animated Batman's and I dare say is an even better animated film than "Mask of the Phantasm". And that is saying a lot.
If you are new to the Justice League or the DC Universe, you might walk away with a few questions, there is not a lot of extrapolation explaining who and what everybody is. The basic assumption is that you know who these guys are, well, everyone but Hawkgirl, and they cut right to the action. Again, Great!
Our heroes perhaps under-use their powers in the second act, but thankfully, they unleash them wonderfully in the end. Highly recommended.
