This Captain America Figure sits on my desk at work and catches the eye of everyone that pays me a visit, I am thrilled with it. The packaging and the detail were everything the seller said that it would be. I look forward to future purchases and am glad to have Amazon here to guide me along in my hunt and purchase of great items such as "Captain America" series 8 Ultimate. I am definitely pleased with this item.
GO GATORS!!!

If you read Marvel comics' Ultimates, you know that Ultimate Captain America is an bad mother******, the same cannot be said for Toybiz' latest action figure creation. For collectors' who were enthusiastic about the original Captain America action figure, this version of C.A. is a dissapointment. The paint is sloppily done on the face, the shield accessory attachment which allows it to be connected to the Captain's arm fell off, and the worst part is that C.A.'s head is permanent looking at his feet! The head articulation is so bad, perhaps due to his absurd hulking shoulder muscles. Bottom line. A real durable piece of garbage. Don't buy this unless it is on discount.

To everyone interested in buying this figure, and also to certain other Amazon reviewers who obviously didn't understand what they were buying, you should take note of the reason why this figure is referred to as "ULTIMATE Captain America".
This figure is not based on the Captain America character that has been appearing in comics since World War II. This is based on the "alternate reality" version of Cap that appears in the Marvel Comics series THE ULTIMATES and THE ULTIMATES 2, part of the "Ultimate" line of Marvel Comics that re-envisions classic Marvel characters as debuting in modern times and more realistic situations. The "Ultimate" version of Cap is more violent, more soldier-like, and less of a "pretty boy", goody-goody type than the classic Captain America. If you're buying this figure expecting it to be the idealistic, smiling, "truth, justice, and the American way" Cap that appears in the "regular" Marvel Comics line, you will be disappointed. This is Captain America from the "Ultimate" line--thus, the figure's name of "Ultimate Captain America".
As for the figure itself, it is no better or worse than most Marvel Legends figures of late. The amount of articulation is impressive as always, but often some joints ruin the look of a beautifully sculpted figure, and no matter how articulated a figure is, it is often difficult and even sometimes damaging to the figure to get it into a pose that is accurate to the character portrayed. Die-hard Marvel fans who can look past the flaws will enjoy it, but don't plan on buying this as a toy to give to a child--the downsides of the figure will ultimately frustrate the average kid. Annoyingly for those of use who would like to introduce the younger generation to Marvel characters, the Marvel Legends line has become far more of a collector's display line than a series of fun toys.

This version of Captain America is an excellent addition to Marvel Legends. He has one of the most detailed scuplts of the entire line, with detailed individual "scales" on parts of his suit. Also the detailed sculpt of his boots, gloves, and belt are top notch. Individually articulated fingers are a great plus. The only minor drawbacks are the face and the colors chosen. He technically should have a slightly more pretty-boy face, although I personally think this grizzled look fits the character. His gloves and boats should be more red and the blue on the inner side of his biceps and covering the upper obliques should be grey. Otherwise, this figure is perfect. Try reading the Ultimates--great comics.

I highly recommend this action figure. It has plenty of nice features that make it a "must have" for Marvel/Capt. America fans. The first, of course, being the fantastic detail on this figure. His costume, army boots, belt pouches, and gloves look amazing. The articulation is a slight step above what we have come to expect from the Marvel Legends line. Each finger is movable!! Wow! The thumbs don't move, but the fingers are sculpted in such a way that when you bend them down towards his palm, the hand will resemble a closed fist. Very nice. All the joints were fairly tight when my son opened the package and were nicely concealed throughout the figures costume and body. This figure comes with Cap's indestructible shield, a wall mountable display stand, and a poster book with some great artwork of Ultimate Captain America. The only bad things I can say about this figure is that his head seems a little too small when compared to the Captain America figure from Series 1. Also, his head doesn't move to "look up" enough, in my opinion. He can look down at his boots real well, but if you want him to look up above him, you have to bend him at the knees and the stomach area. The other problem we had was when we tried to secure the clip on the back of his shield to his wrist, the whole hand--from the top of the glove down--popped off. It popped back on easy enough, but it seems as if this figure was made with a plastic that is less rigid than past Marvel Legends figures. It's not a huge problem in my mind since this figure is well stocked and it isn't hard to pick up another one in case the first one totally breaks beyond repair. Captain America is a great character and none of the problems I mentioned are worth a bad rating. I would definitely buy this action figure again.
