the young boy bands may be long gone, but its good to see a young man like jesse singing love songs, his slower songs are better than the uptempo ones, "beautiful soul" is good but not my favourite, i also liked "becuase you live" and "shes no you" the best song on the cd in my opinion. so yes young men do have a sensative side, thier not just thinking about sex.

Beautiful Soul is one heck of a wonderful album by Jesse McCartney. This kid's got more talent in his pinky finger than more artists have in their entire blood stream! The songs are really very good and this makes a fine introduction to the artistry of Jesse McCartney. The quality of the sound is awesome and the artwork is very well done, too.
"She's No You" is a great song with an edgy type of pop that I really like. Jesse sings this with a lot of feeling and that's wonderful! The melody is very well arrangement considering how complex it is; and "She's No You" makes a great starter song for this album. This is anything but elevator music! "Beautiful Soul" has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard from today's young artists--ever. Jesse McCartney sings this with all his heart and soul and just one listen proves it. Indeed, Jesse delves deep into this song to make it really shine and he accomplishes this very nicely. Good work! The electric guitar work also fits in perfectly with the arrangement.
"Get Your Shine On" truly sounds as if it WAS influenced by Michael Jackson's writing a few lines; but make no mistake about it--this is Jesse's song and he performs it flawlessly. "Get Your Shine On" really is pleasing to the ear and it makes for a huge highlight on this album. Jesse's voice is clear and his uncanny sense of timing make songs like "Get Your Shine On" all the better. "Take Your Sweet Time" is a sensitive ballad that proves just how well Jesse can deliver a love song with panache; Jesse sings of how he loves his woman so much that he wait for her to come around and finally see that loving him is the right thing to do.
"Why Don't You Kiss Her?" is another rather tender ballad about a love affair and the fact that not everything always goes smoothly as people want them to go. Jesse sings "Why Don't You Kiss Her?" with all his heart and soul and his style makes this a fantastic tune. I really like "Why Don't You Kiss Her?" and I think you're going to like this song, too. "Come To Me" has a very pretty melody as Jesse sings of how he wants to have the joys of being loved by the one he already loves; and he sings with passionately. "Come To Me" is a very sweet song and it's another major highlight of this CD.
"What's Your Name?" returns to that type of edgy pop that Jesse handles just as well as he handles sensitive love songs; and "What's Your Name?" works very well. The music that accompanies Jesse as he sings fits in perfectly with the lyrics, too. "Why Is Love So Hard To Find?" has a mellow feeling to this pop ballad; and the backup singers harmonize well, too. The CD ends strong with Jesse McCartney performing "The Stupid Things." "The Stupid Things" has an excellent piano arrangement and Jesse sings this without a superfluous note--great!
Jesse McCartney is here to stay and there's just no doubt about it. This is a great album for his fans and it's also a fine introduction to his talents.

This is an OK effort. But I feel that it lacks something. The vocals are pleasant. Sometimes a little too nasally. Other times, not. And The Stupid Things is a remake right? I know that in the previous year Robin Thicke released it also on A Beautiful World and did it better. It was more sincere. Either way though, it is the biggest standout from these 13 or 14 tracks. Maybe if they didn't rush to get this out it could've been even more than it was and turned out to be.
But I still like the fact that He took time to co-write a couple of the tracks. He co-wrote even more on His sophomore effort Right Where You Want Me. At least 6-8 songs including the stunning, R&B-tinged Right Where You Want Me, the slightly insightful Right Back in the Water and the honest, slightly-forceful, pop-rockin', show-stealer Anybody.
The material ranges from middle school relationship material to...well, uh...middle school relationship topics (LOL). He tries and succeeds like I always say, in spurts. The Stupid Things, Why Don't You Kiss Her?, Beautiful Soul (love that high note), Come to Me, Why Is Love So Hard To Find? and Because You Live are all decent pop songs. Get Your Shine On (Kinda cheesy, yet I am in love with the keyboard on this track) and She's No You succeed also. Just to a much lesser extent.
I don't understand people saying: "Well, Jesse looks and sounds like a girl! He can't sing! And He's just in it for the money!"
The majority of us writing these reviews have yet to meet Him (*LOL*)!!
But to end this on a lighter note:
3.6 stars for being the co-writer on some tracks off the album, releasing decent pop songs and for being so darn cute to this Bloke. ^_^;
3.6 stars.

I particularly liked She's No You,Get Your Shine On, Because You Live,& Beautiful Soul. Tips when buying cd's from this artist: #1- he sounds good on this cd, but not live #2-if you are thinking about buying this cd because you like how jesse mccartney looks, but you don't like the music~PLEASE DON'T!!!! I am one of the very few girls who doesn't think he's hot, but I love most of his music. It is very good(most of the time).
