DVD : Smallville - The Complete Third Season

First time I saw Smallville thought it was stupid dealing with Superman in his early years. I thought it was way to modern to be a success and always watched it rarely from times to times. The last few weeks I have been watching season four from the beginning and as soon as the third came into dvd I watched it whole in 4 days!! Having lost a lot of episodes from the earlier seasons 2 and 3 I cannot really compare the third with the previous.
Yet this show is fantastic. There are some iconic elements of Superman in some of the episodes that mean a lot. For example the guy who sees the future from whoever touches - the scene where he touches Clark and then we see the red cape brings a lot of chills!!!- is fantastic. From my point of view the third season must be better than the fourth -I have seen half the fourh season- as there is great continuity among the episodes and the characters move on and mature.
Of course there are some minor issues that may not make sense in general like the fact that something is going on with Clark, the many times that the main characters get save, the amount of Cryptonite that can be bought in the supermarket etc but for the sake of movies you get passed them!

This series don't like like a cheap weekly show. The production is highbudgeted, the directors of the episodes, really talented, the effects will satisfy everyone with a great deal of realism in the most important of all the stories. The stories are fantastic, the dialogues are great and realistic and you become attached to the characters.

I only hate the fact that I cannot rent the first 2 seasons (damn store don't have them) but from the other point of view I would hate to sit in my house for the next week watching tv 8 hours a day!!!!

- Junior Year at Smallville High Won't Disappoint
The mythos of Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman continues in another excellent season of mystery and adventure...also introducing more characters from the DC Universe (a bonus for the baby boomers).

Although the writing isn't as original and impactful as the two previous seasons, by now SMALLVILLE fans have a lot invested in their core characters and even some of the more formulaic "X-Files for Teens" storylines will capture interest. The young cast members have improved considerably, bringing their own maturity to the roles. Notably, the caliber of supporting players and guest stars is elevated this season...presumeably because of the commitment from the network and/or the exhaustion of available local talent from the Canadian location.

Definitely fun to own as part of your complete SMALLVILLE collection. The season finale, always an anticipated episode, is a fun homage to COppola's GODFATHER movies.
