After hearing the entire EP last night, I cant wait until the whole album comes out sometime in early February. I was glad to find out that she didnt keep stagnat with her sound, and was willing to explore new ground. So often these days artists only keep to what they're comfortable with, never willing to re-invent themselves, it's good to see that Esthero doesn't fit this description. I was most impressed with the title track as well as Amber and Tiger's eye, both showing that her voice is unlimited, and easily adaptable to any type of beat. Any fans who were intrigued with her debut album 'Breath From Another' should be more than satisfied with her sophmore venture. I for one will be in line to pick it up when it comes out.

I think the wide variety of musical styles demonstrated on this EP is indicative of what could be on the full length. An EP need not be a cohesive mix tape, it's not a concept album. Amber and Tiger's Eye is the type of track that lesser artists would have left off the CD, fearing it's lack of commercial appeal, but some of us do appreciate this lengthy ambient epic, perfect candle light music, while everyday is a holiday is the kind of joyful pop song the world needs more of. title track is what it is, and has a wonderful eighties jag to it, and gone is such a delicate ballad, you have to adore the pained lyricism. I think these other reviews are too critical of what is a sample collection, with 3 b-sides, and should really wait for the full length to drop, which will be massive. Don't get hung up on the past, cause artists evolve, and seven years later, someone will evolve as an artist, in this case for the better. wait and see.

As a fan of Esthero's debut album, I was excited to hear this new EP. However, the only halfway decent song on the album is the title track. The rest of the songs are a mix of oddly sorted tracks that really don't offer much substance. The songs don't really fit into any musical genre and even the sultry beats on GONE are just boring. You would expect something a little more LASTING for someone who declares her outrage over all the "sh*t that is played on the radio"...This album just isn't very good. I am just glad that I didn't pay for it and managed to get a free burned copy.

Being that Esthero's debut album was one of my favorites I waited in great anticipation for a new release, and waited...and waited some more. And when I'd about given up hope she had a new song on a soundtrack come out and then released O.G. Bitch. And then this EP popped up on the release charts and despite the negative and medicore reviews I'd read I had to have it. Sorry to say that the reviews are true. Esthero has always been all over the place, part of the draw of her first album was the mix of genres and how well her voice blended it all together. Her voice is still beautiful here. It is the insipid lyrics of "We R in Need of a Musical Revolution" (I'm no Ashanti fan Esthero but you don't have room to diss anyone when this is the best lead in you can muster in seven years) and the tacky all over the place production and instrumentation that kill it. The Sean Lennon duet is cringe worthy at best. As is the duet with Cee Lo Green who I am also a huge fan of. "Everday is a Holiday" is a far cry from her team up with Cee Lo and the rest of Goodie Mob on the Slam Soundtrack remix of Country Livin. There isn't one song on here that stands out as anything above horribly mediocre to me. At first I was bummed to hear this was just an EP but after listening I'm kinda glad to be spared. At least it was cheap I guess.

OKAY this shoul be 5 stars,,, forgive me JennyBeeE(sorry about that too)
Heard her new cd... it's so diverse...
from lounge, hippie hop,,, fun to dance pop vocals with all a passion lacking these days from others...
Andre3000 contributes that retro Beck sound..
I still think GONE should be a lead single/video, not that it represent the cd...
the only drawback was the spoken timbits provided, even thought the last one made me break out in laughter...
Anyways enough said
Okay 7 years,,, still I wait for a second release. This will tide me over YUM.... till next year (febuary maybe????)
Anyways the 6 song ep is a bit scary, because the style on each conflicts with one another. Makes me wonder how the new album will be. In any case each song is really strong and I like all of them, but together might be a problem for some.
1.track is all out rock-pop-dance,agression that I love, sort of a stand out track, similar to Original Bitch single but like PINK
2. Writing with Sean Lennon in tow is a trumpet, 60s, lounge like sound. (think Sloan/Rufus Wainright) its good too
3.GONE is the best track here, a duet (think Alica Keys but more RnB smooth Destiny child)
4.This is a more like a Girl from Ipanema song which I love, it's cool, but weird at the same time. Bosa Nova like... I like it not sure if you would.
5.This is esthero, at least more close to what I expected to hear, starts off piano key smooth build into something else like Massive Attack
6...is 6 mins long and is like Madame Butterfly or like Goldfrap via earlier efforts...
ALL in all it's great to hear her voice, but concerning. Because of what direction she will going towards on her new release next Jan/Feb. If she took any of the 6 songs style, and did a whole album directed towards that style it would be amazing... even its as mixed as this it would still kick...
