The display was so bright that it lit the room. When I turned in my sleep to face the clock radio, the brightness woke me up. I finally put the clock radio under the bed until morning (where it continued to illuminate the legs of all the furniture). Then I boxed it up and returned it.
The tuning has a digital indicator, but it is difficult to turn the knob just right to get the station you want.

Being the music lover I am, I must say that I am dissapointed with the sound quality of the unit, but I bought the radio for the time display and to wake me up for work, not to be my primary piece of equipment to listen to music on. There is also a downside to the clock display. It is so freakin' bright and the display can't be read at night unless you are right in front of it. Forget reading it from an angle, you can't see it. The clock on mine also looses about 4 minutes every couple of weeks. The radio and CD player are just a "get by" at best. Plan on using your more expensive stereo equipment if you want to rock out. I have a Philips unit with the "WOOX" bass if I want to really rock the house. Hope to own a Boze wave music system someday. I would recommend this unit only to those who can't afford a better piece of equipment. **Update** The CD player broke after about 18 months. I probably didn't use the CD player for more than 2 or 3 hours total before it went south. I would not recommend this cheaply built unit to anyone.

I just received this today. It has a nice updated look, large buttons, & big bright display but the sound is terrible. Also I thought it had a digital tuner instead of this 1980 turn knob that's hard to control. Also there are no station presets which is a must with any clock radio! I'm returning this one.

I purchased this because I wanted an easy to read clock that would play CD-Rs & CD-RWs. It does not play them even though it is supposed to. Also, when playing a regular CD that was a very loud humming sound in the background. I was very disappointed.
The clock is easy to read and the radio seemed to work ok. But I wanted it for playing CD-Rs, so it is going back.
