Amazing amazing album from Seu Jorge (what is his last name???)...bought this on a whim, while getting his Life Aquatic Sessions. His voice is that paradox of being cool and nonchalant, yet emotion-filled at all the right tugs of heart-strings. I'm emo but Jorge sure knows how to sing to you, and you'd thought you're the only one listening to him. wow. be still my heart.

The music is great, but the CD was shipped to me without the original seal, since I live overseas it's a bit difficult to return. So be careful guys! I have ordered also The Life Aquatic Sessions in the same shipment, that CD is totally fine with original seal.

The music on this album is simple bueaty. The sound of the guitar and his voice give a layed back feel.

Like many people, I learned about Seu Jorge through his participation in the music for "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". I found his work interesting, but not particularly engaging. But "Cru" totally got me into his work, head in first. He reminds me of the legendary Brazillians that brought Brazil's contagious music to the forefront of the collective conscience, the likes of Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Chico Buarque. Jumping from laid back to upbeat, from an urban beat to more of a serenade mellow sound, Seu Jorge will capture you with his magical music from the first track of this, one of 2005's best albums.

The new Sting of our generation.. the new Caetano Veloso.. SEU JORGE is the TRUTH! I absolutely can't wait to experience more art from him.
'Cru' is exactly that.. RAW. I think it really shows Jorge's range as a singer/songwriter/ musician. It talks about simple emotions and situations ('Dont,' Bem Querer..). His style is all his own.
...and to the homie who doesnt know what the 'monkey sounds' are (two reviews down)... its a Cuíca or Guíca... a traditional Brazilian drum used mostly in samba..
