The best word to describe this album is "OK." The show Smallville itself is fantastic. The first Smallville soundtrack, The Talon Mix, is very nearly perfection in a CD. It uses great songs from the alternative genre to musically portray the overall mood of the show. This album does not. A few of the songs are good, but the majority are mediocre to horrible.
Only about five are good. These are Lifehouse's You and Me, Stereophonic's Superman (although they drop the f-bomb, a word I would never associate with the show), Brendan Benson's Cold Hands, Him's Wicked Games, and KT Tunstall's Other Side of the World.
One of the most raved about songs on this album, Breaking Benjamin's Forget It, starts out with promise, but soon falls apart and just didn't work for me as a song. The rest of the songs are really, really boring, whether from being played over and over again on the radio (Precious, Almost Honest), from being repetitive (Hungry Heart), from having an annoying tune (The Girl's Attractive, I'm a Human, All the Money or the Simple Life Honey), or from just being horrible bands with horrible songs (All American Rejects, Rascal Flatts). Why would they put a country song on this album?
With all of the great music the show utilizes, it wouldn't be hard to make another great album. If you want a great Smallville album, check out the Talon Mix instead.

Terrific album that has a lot of variety. All the songs are cool. I especially like Forget It by Breaking Benjamin, Precious by Depeche Mode, You And Me by Lifehouse, and Dirty Little Secret by The All-American Rejects. I also love Feels Like Today by Rascal Flatts. I'd recommend this album because it's wonderful and rockin' good.

At the moment I am a huge Smallville fan, so naturally, I bought the music. Althouth I ordered both at the same time (which I recommend) this one came first. I like the music, but it does not have the feel of the show. There are about 4 songs on it that I really loved, and I was a little disapointed by the cd insert, but overall I am very happy with the purchase.
I would recommend any fan of the show should get it.

First of all, I love the show Smallville, although that is not the only reason I love this mix. It's got a great variety of songs, from Stereophonics "Superman" to Lifehouse's "You and Me." Some highlights in my opinion are "Precious" by Depeche Mode and "Forget It" by Breaking Benjamin.
Forget It - The way I see it, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever on Smallville, and maybe even of all time. I know you're probably thinking, "Yeah, so what, eveyone says that," but take this for some proof that it is an excellent song: I am known for getting sick of songs fast, and I mean fast. So when I listened to this song 378 times and it is the most played song on my iPod, so it must be something VERY special and unique. The way the song builds is purely genius. It is simply beautiful.
Precious - What can I say, Depeche Mode has done it again. This songs has a romantic, gloomy and unique sound to it, yet I can't imagine getting tired of it. It reminds me a little of "Forget It" in the sense that it is breathtaking. I would have to place this song right behind "Forget It" for my favorite song of all time. And don't forget, I am really hard to impress.
Thank you Smallville, for making a mix that is worth every penny.
