Toys : Superman Returns Clark-To-Superman Superman

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Purchased for a collector
I am not sure if these questions are appropriate for the purchase I made. I am happy with the purchase even though the package was not flawless.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - This is the one to buy!
The last son of Krypton finally returns to the big screen, and Mattel does a fantastic job of capturing his likeness in action figure form with the "Cark to Superman" articulated figure. Of the currently available 5.5 inch "Superman Returns" action figures, "Clark to Superman" is the one to buy! It's the best "no frills" representation of the man of steel, with a suit made to resemble the one in the film exactly (it looks MUCH better than the oddly shiny representation in the Amazon image), and no levers, triggers, or anything else sticking out of his back or anywhere. It's just a great Superman figure, pure and simple! Kal-El's cape is fabric, his suit is highly detailed with textures and paints, and he has 10 points of articulation (knees, elbows, hips, shoulders, waist, and pivoting head). The overall design makes for some amazingly realistic poses taken right out of the film!

Now, unfortunately, I cannot give this figure the full 5 stars I'd like to, even though it is an outstanding Superman figure. The problem lies in the figure's special feature, the transformation into and from Clark Kent. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the cape is the source of the trouble. The pants and shoes work fine, the wig with attached glasses works great too (though it looks a little bulky and weird), but the shirt just doesn't look good simply because the cape must be stuffed into the back. This not only ruins the Clark Kent disguise effect, it also wrinkles the cape. It seems these secret identity transforming figures always lose out in one suit or the other, and I think the only ideal way to handle it (since a removable cape might hurt the Superman look), would be to make it an action figure two-pack. Nevertheless, fun can still be had with this figure, especially if you forget about transforming him into Clark Kent. And, for the collector's display shelf, this IS the one to get! I also recommend picking up the Missile Launching Lex Luthor figure, with its amazing likeness to Kevin Spacey, and seek out the Batman Begins "Battle Gear Batman" (see my review) for the most basic "Batman Begins" Batman figure.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - darn cape!
I knew this figure was gonna be great fun because my cousin has the exact same one.But as stated in other reviews the cape isn't removable so he looks too bulky.Another problem I've had is that I found that if you leave him in Clark Kent mode for too long the cape wrinkles.Other then those two problems I think that collectors and kids alike, and I too would of liked a piece of kryptonite. After all what would superman be without kryptonite?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Figure with one Flaw
This would be the Best superman figure ever if they had made the cape removable. That way he would be less bulky otherwise awesome figure.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Clark Kent to SUPERMAN!
This figure is really neat in that you get a suit, shoes, and glasses and a hairpiece (attached) to transform Superman to Clark Kent and vice versa. The only quip I have is once he is in the suit, it looks bulky because it has to hide the cape and all those muscles. There's a reason in the pics on the site he's only half dressed. He looks slightly funny in full Clark Kent Mode.

But the SUPERMAN part of the figure is awesome. He's articulated well and can move in to countless positions. He looks authentic, and everything is well done. There are no gimmick buttons or anything else to distract from the action figure. He's fun to play with, or makes a great collector's item.

Very fun, and probably the best figure in the line of toys so far!
