I read all the negative reviews before I watched this, so I was expecting a really horrible movie. However, I enjoyed this movie, and so did my son. I've only seen a few episodes of Superman:TAS, though. Maybe if I'd watched more of that show it would've affected this review. Who knows?
I do know that Lex Luthor was way out of character, but even so he was fun to watch. I loved Jimmy's crush on Mercy, and the ultimate resolution of it. The fights were decent. Tim Daley and Dana Delaney are awesome as Superman and Lois.
I'd recommend this for someone who wants to watch a good, fun Superman movie with their small children, like I did.

THIS DVD IS OK!!! AT THE SAME TIME ITS KINDA CORNY!!! LEX LUTHER IS PLAYED BY A DIFFERENT ACTOR OTHER THAN THE GUY FROM THE SUPERMAN ANIMATED SERIES AND HE IS CORNY AS FREAKIN HEC! THE STORY LINE IS KINDA OFF FROM THE THINGS WE KNOW ALREADY FROM THE SUPERMAN ANIMATED SERIES LIKE BRAINIAC ACTING LIKE HE DON'T KNOW A DAG ON THING ABOUT KRYPTON WHEN HE IS SUPPOSED 2 BE FROM KRYPTON!! OTHER THAN THAT ITS ALRIGHT(FIGHTING SCENES). IF U ARE A COLLECTOR THEN GET IT, IF NOT BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

This was painful for a Superman: The Animated Series fan (me) to watch. Despite the similarity of the look of the movie to the series, most of the voices are different, the plot is totally diconnected with the show, and the characters are totally changed and flat. For example:
- Lex Luthor is a buffoon.
- Mercy is a brainless twit.
- Braniac is a laughing witless maniac.
I really wish I'd looked at the reviews here before watching this (let along buying it). Please, save your money and your respect for this great show, and pretend this garbage doesn't exist.

As a lover of the Superman animated series of the late 90s and the Justice League and JLU series, I am terribly disappointed and outraged by this effort. At one point in the movie, Brainiac boasts that he has brawn as well as brains, but this movie is mostly a string of boring action scenes separated by and interwoven with insipid and ridiculous dialog. Powers Booth's depiction of Lex Luthor made ME sad, to paraphrase the character. There are moments that are reminiscent of the series, especially with Lois and Clark, but as a whole the movie feels like a rejected episode from the series that was padded into feature length. It is literally laughably bad; I guffawed when Superman kissed Lois and resuscitated her a la Sleeping Beauty.
Save your money and time - don't buy or rent this movie or bother watching it even if it's free.
