I bought both the Batman and Superman Murals, and they look terrific! I went ahead and trimmed both to get the "custom" look. It took some time, but the results were definitely worth it. Use an Exacto knife to trim the murals and it is pretty easy.

Let me start off by saying that regardless of certain problems, this ultimately looks great smack dab in the middle of my son's wall.
That wall of his room is white. If it were any other color, I would have literally had my work cut out for me because the background of the mural is white. (The instructions suggest that if one wants a "customized" look, one can cut out the Superman image, which would be intricate and delicate work.)
Even if the thought of a white background doesn't bother you, you would still have to contend with the panels not being of equal height, at least after you cut off extraneous print at the top of panel two.
The instructions aren't clear, but when you reverse roll the mural before dunking it in water (they say use a tray -- a bathtub was a lot easier), you should roll it ever-so loosely or else not all of the paste will get wet.
The instructions also say that when you align the two panels (you can slide them along the wall when they're wet), you should make sure they do not overlap. I lined them up perfectly. What happens, however, is that there is some sort of shrinkage when the panels dry on the wall, and you end up with a thin white line running up the middle of the joined panels. This is only really noticeable when the mural is looked at straight on, but it's apparently something you can't do anything about.
Still, it looks terrific.
