I already owned the DVD and I thought if I bought it in Blu-ray Disc it should be fantastic. To my surprise, there is no improvement on picture quality when I play both version on Blu-Ray Player. Extremely disappointed./Pongtorn

- ENTERTAINING SEQUEL NOT QUITE AS GOOD AS THE FIRST FILM! " DONNER" CUT VS THEATRICAL RELEASE?
Superman II had some very big shoes to fill following the thoroughly entertaining origin film. I watched both versions of the film back to back and I have come to the conclusion that the theatrical release is a better film. That is not to say that the "Donner" cut isn't without merit. I liked his cut very much, but it's unfinished and had he been able to complete his film, I think it could have been better than the theatrical release. Lester on the other hand, doesn't deserve too much credit because he already had 3/4 quarters of a good film to work with. This sequel is very good, but for me it strays too far from the comic book. This is an "anything goes" version of Superman. I would have loved to see some flashbacks to Clark's youth in Smallville because I felt they rushed past that in the first film. All and all this is a sequel that is not to be missed! The Transfer on the super Superman box set is excellent and there are two additional discs of extras including the "Donner" cut.

I highly recommend this DVD for the hardcore Superman fans. The scenes with Jor-El (Marlon Brando) were superior to Lester's version. Also Donner's scene of Lois shooting Clark Kent with a gun (albeit a blank, to prove he's Superman) is superior to Lester's version of Clark tripping into the fireplace. I always hated how Lester's version added new Super-powers to all 4 Kryptonians (that did not exist in the comics). My only criticism of both films is too much dumb humor in the Lex Luthor scenes. I prefer the cold sinister Lex Luthor in Superman Returns.
